Old City Quarter is such a charming part of Nanaimo with a unique vibe you don’t find everywhere. The area is filled with little shops, cafés, and restaurants, each offering something special and different from the big chains. Walking around feels relaxed and inviting, with heritage buildings adding to the character. It’s a great spot to browse, grab a coffee, or discover local treasures. Whether you’re a visitor or a local, Old City Quarter is definitely worth exploring and enjoying!
There are several shops however most of the shops are only open till 5 pm.
A small tourist area with colors....
Most shops were closed
Very cute with quite a few unique boutiques.
Great area to visit. With a few interesting retail shops. A landmark in Nanaimo. Worth to visit the old city.
very good
Cute market but sadly they open a bit later.
Always nice going to old city quarter.
Super cute collection of boutique and independent shops. Wish there were a bit more historical signage about.

Nice place. Excellent cheese shop down from the Oxy.
Nice variety of shops and restaurant options
Lots of little shops to visit. First, we went for breakfast at the Breakfast Nook, which really is such a great place and good meal. Then we went into Kitties and Cream to buy cat toys for Fancy and Awesome. They had cats in for adoption, so we played and petted the fur babies there. That was really a gun adventure.
In my opinion I was very disappointed I was expecting more but is not really nothing to do there, you can spend you time in another place
Love this place. So many cool little shops.
