Be prepared for great bread and pretzels still made in authentic German style. However, I must warn you to also be prepared for horribly ill-mannered counter staff ...I mean wow, I haven't been treated like that ever...

This bakery/cafe has a decent amount of selections, ranging from sweet to savoury. I had a Cheese Stick and a Chocolate Chip Cookie. The Chocolate Chip Cookies here are the dry, hard variety, as opposed to soft and chewy kind. I don’t mind that, but I just found these to be a bit too sweet. The Cheese Stick had a more flakey consistency than a traditional Bread-like Cheese Stick you would find in most bakeries. I enjoyed the texture of taste these Cheese Sticks. Prices were very reasonable and service was efficient and good.

We always stop for rye bread and cheese sticks while passing though Nanaimo, easy access off the bypass via Northfield Rd. Both are still very good, but note reduced Covid hours. Sadly the deli section is closed, but there is still a great selection of pastries and cookies
