During our friend’s visit to Nelson, we dined at Louie’s Steakhouse. Service was satisfactory, but unfortunately the food didn’t meet expectations for the price. Several dishes were underseasoned, and the mashed potatoes were chunky and not fully cooked. The atmosphere could also be improved—music was louder than ideal, making conversation difficult. With more attention to food execution and ambiance, Louie’s could better match its price point.

The steaks were way over priced

One of the best steakhouses we have ever visited. Steaks were superb, cooked perfectly to order, (We love ours rare, but they also offer blue, they really know what they are doing) I had ribeye, she had fillet, and they don't dump a bunch of sauces on them, you taste the outstanding meat.
Remarkably, the accompanying veggies, practically useless throw-aways at a lot of restaurants, were delicious in their own rights.
Absolutely will return next time in Nelson.

Loved this place! Had an amazing server, food was great (took a little while cause they didn’t have many steak chefs on hand) but tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend!

All in all, very friendly staff, food was great. The kitchen also feeds a pub so there was a fairly long wait time for main dishes, but apps came fast. The quality of the food made it all ok, and the waitress was impressive not having to write a single thing down for a table of 4. Not a large place but cute, has a patio on the main strip of town.

We went for a 60th birthday dinner with my husband. Had the risotto for an appetizer. It was so over done with garlic that we could no longer taste our wine. The pasta was cooked perfectly. However, being that the risotto was so heavy with garlic i could not taste it very well. My husband's steak was under done and charcoal on the outside. As if it was flash grilled. All he could taste was burnt steak. The service was amazing
All of the ladies were great except when we were paying. I asked why when we make a reservation they ask if it is for a special occasion. As there was nothing offered for the occasion. The server told us that she did not take the reservation. I let her know we booked it online. Then she responded that she did not seat us or otherwise they may have acknowledged my husband's birthday. That was the topping to a very disappointing experience. The kitchen definitely let us down.

Top notch food, with all fresh ingredients made perfectly by the chef and a pleasure to eat. We would recommend it to anyone who is visiting Nelson and wants something special
The photos don’t fully reflect the reality of the place. The food and cocktails are overrated, though the service was decent.”

WOW!! Best service! Friendly staff! 10/10!!
Solid 5!!! Travelling Canada for 2 months and this was the best evening meal I had in weeks. Gyozas as starters, filet mignon steak and brownie : each dish was quality ingredients and cooked to perfection, special mention to the steak that came with crunchy, juicy vegetables standing out and that I appreciated as fully part of the dish rather than just a side thing. Wine was excellent as well. Service by two ladies on this Sunday night was kind, warm and attentive. I rarely have the pleasure to write a review where everything was perfect, and this was. Will be back for sure, I little French stomach is very appy!

We decided on Louis for our 43rd anniversary dinner with a few friends. We were treated to excellent service by a few great young ladies, all quite helpful and professional.
We began with a few appetizers: the mussels, steamed with garlic, shallots and heavy cream were delicious. The baked bri in filo pastry was a bit heavy as the filo was not quite cooked. Two of our party had ribs which were satisfactory although seemed to be covered in a commercial sauce. Unfortunately the prosciutto and pear pizza was not quite edible; the toppings were very limited and the famed crust was doughy to the point of rawness. The Wild Mushroom Puttanesca; the noodles were very good and the mushroom sauce would have been excellent however the dish was completely devoid of any base flavour including tasty oils and/or spice.
Perhaps it was just an off night in the kitchen but my hope is that on our next visit the chefs will redeem themselves.

Excellent service. They were very attentive and our waitress saw that we didn't enjoy the Mac n cheese dish, so she automatically removed it from our bill. We were not expecting that at all, but greatly appreciated that she did that! All of our other food was excellent, we just have a picky child with us on the Mac n cheese :-)
We had a great time at Louie's. Alessia was our point of contact and waitress. She took ownership of the entire experience, which was extremely positive. As for the food, it was just awesome, starters and mains worked well together, but were also difficult to handle at times (The Danny Rickaby for example). Super tasty for sure. Don't forget to ask for the "hidden" wine list, as it includes top of the line wines that will not be listed on the publicized wine list. This review was finally written four weeks after the experience. It was part of a larger 70th birthday trip and celebration which is still going on. A big thanks again to the chef and the entire team of Louie's.
