It's my favorite hangout in Nelson. Whether it's a pint and some yummy food or electric live music and atmosphere you crave, this place has it all!

Buckle up! We came up for our Anniversary weekend which happened to be Easter weekend. While out and about on Friday (Good Friday) we were asking people where we should hang out as some places were closed and almost everyone said The Royal. So naturally we went.

Upon arrival we were met with some awesome door guys who told us there was live music that night so there would be a cover. NBD we like to appreciate local talent but then these guys hand me ear plugs and I thought WTF I am 35 not 80 but didn't say anything.

We grab drinks and were able to snag a table as we were a little early to the show. Oh man little did we know this night would be the night we would attend our first death metal concert. Did not have that on my bingo card for the trip but boy did we have a great time! Yes - I did use the ear plugs.

Only rotating craft beers on tap, live music is great but couldnt stay because the sound system is deafening. Staff are great

I'm honestly just amazed at how much fun this was. The bartender Ostara was extremely welcoming to my sobriety and their orange dreamsicle mocktail was really good, as was the buffalo chicken burger. The music was awesome too and I'm just so thankful I blindly picked this venue for my first night out in Canada

One of the coolest / best venues in western Canada! The sound is always sooo good. The food, vibes, service, entertainment is always unreal!
It’s a safe space for any and all folks to come together for all sorts of fun! Without this community staple of a venue / bar / restaurant Nelson would NOT be the same. Long live the Royal! If you go to Nelson, BC you MUST stop here for an evening of drinks, food and entertainment! Do yourself a favour and don’t forget it

Went here with my friends while we were all fighting for our lives after a night out drinking. Our server Hayley was amazing and had a great personality! She made me the BEST Caesar that definitely cured my hangover. The crispy chicken burger was the best I've ever had! Definitely worth visiting!

Went in for a drink with friends and the atmosphere was nice with good tunes and a ski video on the big screen. The service was poor and the drinks were not very good, the place was pretty empty and I felt like they wanted us to leave. I wouldn’t go back.

The best place in town to see a show, meet some friends, have a drink, attend a community event, grab a bite; anything really! A true Neslon gem.

This years burger month burger is a must have ?

Great night of music, food and friends. We are so lucky to have a venue that completely changes based on the talent brought in. For us older folks...thanks.

Ouch. Dinner was ‘gone’ 30 seconds after I got home. That put the poo in pootine. Toilet in the joint was out of service.

Stopped off here for dinner and a beer while we passed through Nelson.

The vibe in the Royal is great! Big screen above a stage playing action sports. Clean and fun.

The beer and selection of beers were great; however, the food was less desirable. We got two salads with chicken added and a side of wings. The wings were good but the salads for the price were disappointing.

We got Cesar salads which included just salad and dressing. No bacon bits, no croutons, no cheese... Just lettuce. We added chicken for protein, one got grilled and the other popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken was cooked to perfection but the grilled chicken was over cooked and resembled jerky.

Would definitely go back when we are in town... just not for the food.

I’ll start by saying that we frequent this pub/restaurant quite regularly. Our most recent visit was during the Road Kings auto show. The patio was very busy and the service staff were running. We always enjoyed the food in the past, however on this occasion the food was not up to the standards we have experienced on previous occasions. The most recent menu is much more limited in it’s offerings, not as creative or visually appealing as in the past. Fortunately unchanged is the excellent craft beer selection, friendly staff and great location.
