Very disappointed with the service here. Has too many fruit flies and when one DIED in my beer (haven't even had a sip of it yet), and asked for another one. Instead, they hand me a fork to fish it out. The entire night I was swatting at the fruit flies. Not how I want to spend my night.

Shiny Things IPA changed my life for the best

I'm a New West resident and have been going to Steel & Oak probably since it first opened and any time I have served growlers of their beer at gatherings on my deck, people have loved it. I recently went there with a group of non-New West friends and everybody enjoyed the beer, food, service, atmosphere and vinyl collection. As I was paying my tab there was a problem with the credit card machine and I was inadvertently charged twice. When I dropped in to explain what happened the staff were super friendly and helpful in getting me a refund. I’ll continue to tell people how great this place is and be in on a regular basis.

Love your beer and vibes. I love supporting local businesses, but my recent visit was disappointing to say the least. While we were waiting at the counter ready to order, she ignored us and moved on to serve someone behind us without even asking if we were ready. Just handed us a menu. It’s our fourth time here and the service is getting worse every time. I keep trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but I won’t be back. When we thanked her after receiving our menus and drinks she didn’t even acknowledge us at all. She’s only said “Ale?” and just completely ignored us, no eye contact, nothing. Nada. I stayed a while and noticed her being courteous and responsive to other (white) customers. “Oh no worries!” And “You’re welcome” with a big smile to others as if she wanted us to know we weren’t being welcomed. A group behind us (Asian cyclists) also commented on how rude the service was and left.
Giving two stars because I really do love their beer. This is just my experience and thought I’d share in case anyone else felt the same way.

The guy in company Kia soul brake checked me and then flipped me off. I’m a regular customer and this kind of behaviour is not acceptable for such a great place. Happened tonight

Great beer and people. Patio is great and the food trucks are a great addition.

Nice simple local brewery. Staff are friendly and helpful, selection is typical of type of establishment.

S&O is amazing! The staff are friendly, the vibe is sweet, and the beer balances consistency with excitment.

Besst beer in town. Had a delicious flight and left with 4 kinds of beer. Great staff. Awesome atmosphere. Will return!

Great brewery, always a good truck on deck. They have smoked beers and the best dark lager around, and serve Pacific Breeze wine from around the corner.

Absolute gem of a brewery. Brewmasters know German style beers expertly from the Festbier to their Pils, roggenbeir, Zoigl and Hefeweizen. A+.

My favourite brewery in BC. The staff are the best, friendly and funny. Great patio in the, and they play records in the tasting room.

Amazing beer, and easy to grab offsales.

Small food menu, with good non alc options as well as an awesome smash burger food truck. Get the dirty fries
