First time customer, restaurant was freezing cold and uncomfortable. Everything is self serve and there is the constamt buzz of pagers beckoning you to get your food. Coffee pot was empty. Plates were wet. Table wobbled so much my coffee spilled. Food was average, potatoes were good. No breakfast options if you dont eat eggs but I guess it is called the Roost.

I brought my senior friend to The Roost and she was thrilled. She had surgery recently and this was one of her first outings. She was so happy that the barista was able to make her complicated coffee choice perfectly and the GF cookie she had to go with it was divine. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and didn't mind that we forgot the handicap tag and allowed us to use the available parking. (My only one concern is the broken railing on the mobility ramp but because she used a walker, she didn't need to use it.) Thank you all so much for helping to make this outing for my dear friend so special.

Walk in and grab a menu and seat yourselves kind of place, when you're ready to order, just head on up to the front, they'll take your order and you pay for your food, take a seat and when your order is done, this little gadget will buzz and let you know your order is ready, quick and friendly service, the food was amazing, at our table we ordered poutines, the soup of the day, the farm turkey clubs, let me tell you the sandwiches were massive, the Cranberry mayo was superb, loved the Ceasar salad, a very filling meal, definitely be back to try more of the menu next time I come out to visit, thank you for the good meal

Eggs. Ask for medium hard you get, Runny.

Bread not sourdough. It’s White. When asked they gaslighted me.

Ketchup at table not refrigerated. says on the bottle “refrigerate after opening”

Plastic cups. Serve your self everything including come pick up your food when the buzzer rings. and they ask for a tip before your food even comes… Wack.

Over priced for 2 mediocre pieces of bacon and 4 little potatoes.

Witness cook touch mouth face and neck. And continue prepping foods.

When confronted the “waitress” at the end of my “meal”. There was no consideration given and instead was met with a sarcastic smile and sorry. That’s it.

Been here many times over the years. Never again now.

Yikes. Stay clear. This place is about to dive.

Dietary restrictions: They lied about their sourdough. It’s white bread.

This place used to be the best cafe, it has since gone way down hill with more rxpensive prices. I would recommend better places that have now popped up in North Saanich and Sidney, save your money

It was just a very quick stop going to the ferry. The place is decorated with rooster paintings, decors, and accessories. You can order hot breakfast or choose from the yummy pastries. Better grab what you want or lose it. Pastries usually get sold out quickly with no re stocking except for sticky buns/ cinnamon rolls.
You can also score some yesterday's bake for half the price. I'd you are not so picky =).

Food was burn and honestly not worth the money, the way the food is described makes it seem quite appealing but the fries were the only good part of the meal. I also got to see a blond girl behind the counter using the ice scoop to put ice straight into her mouth and then back into the ice, Which is just gross and unsanitary. Most definitely will/ would discourage people from eating here

I ordered the Cornish pastie at the till. There was one left and she turned around to hear it in the microwave. My heart sunk right there. I was expecting it to be nice and crispy. Instead it was how any pastry in the microwave will taste. My husband had the steak pie and he said it was bland and the steak wasn’t good.
Also, many tables had dirty dishes on them. The windows and bathrooms are filthy, with either no soap or paper towel. For a winery and bakery this was terribly disappointing. And since people have been saying these things for a long time and nothing has changed is really sad

The food and service were good. The only downside of this establishment was the cleanliness of restaurant seating area and bathrooms. Both were in desperate need of cleaning.

Sandwiches looked bomb but we ordered the lunch special and it was a travesty.

What a great breakfast spot. Make your traditional breakfast of eggs with meatloaf - yum. Not into a protein bust? Why not a cinnamon bun french toast. A great place for a morning eat if you are just off the ferry.

Parking: Lots of room

I love Roost Winery. Wine flights are nice and reasonable price. I like being able to pay first then being able to leave when ever I want to. I don't mind the beeper and it's not really very loud as one person here complained about. I don't mind bussing my own dishes. I give a tip. Just not as much as I would give if I was being table served. The meatloaf sandwich is very good and all of the breakfast items are tasty and reasonable priced for decent portions. I think perhaps they are having staffing issues like everyone else, so it's possible that a little patience is in order. Things all over seem to been having issues economicly and service wise because of the Lockdowns during Covid. As well as the demoralizing restrictions enforced by the government. Many businesses went under. Glad Roost Winery survived and I hope they continue to do so. Peace ✌️
