In the review section, a few comments mention that while the food was good at Sansho Restaurant, the service left much to be desired. I can relate to this based on my recent experiences at Sansho. During my three visits, I consistently ordered the eel bowl, a popular choice among Japanese diners, and requested Sansho pepper, a special Japanese seasoning. Initially, they provided it generously, but on subsequent visits, there were issues. The second time, it was taken away prematurely, and on the third visit, I was informed they no longer had Sansho, which felt disappointing and cheap. On the bright side, other Japanese restaurants in North Vancouver, like Hamaei and Momiji, offered exceptional service. At Hamaei, the staff always ensured I had Sansho, regardless of how much I used, while at Momiji, they went above and beyond by purchasing Sansho specifically for me when it wasn't initially available. Their dedication to customer satisfaction left a lasting impression.Additionally, some reviewers mentioned experiencing stomach pains after dining at Sansho, hinting at potential hygiene issues. For those seeking delicious Japanese cuisine paired with excellent service, I highly recommend Hamaei and Momiji in North Vancouver.

Delicious, fresh sushi for a fair price. I go here every time I’m back in North Vancouver and it never disappoints. The salmon sashimi is an absolute winner too.

We love Sansho sushi. It has become our go-to in North Van for dinner. We are always impressed with the quality and value. The staff are incredible and we are always glad we went. Highly recommend. The best sushi in North Van, and their teriyaki dinner is great value. Definitely check it out- you won't order sushi from anyone else after!Kid-friendliness: Multiple high chairs

One time I came here, I was missing some sushi that I hadn't seen anywhere here in Canada, that I used to eat regularly back in South Africa. I took a chance, and asked the waitress if they would be willing to copy it if I had a picture, and after she went to show the chef the picture, I actually got what I was looking for, and it was delicious! This was the best experience I've had at any restaurant! Fantastic people here.

I ordered the deluxe nigiri set takeout extremely disappointed on how undercooked the sushi rice was on each bite as it was gritty.

A local North Vancouver gem for Japanese food. The quality and consistency of this place is always good in the three years that I have been going here. They have daily specials which are not on the menu so something to check when you’re there. It can get a bit busy during dinner time so make reservations.

Food was incredible, prices are actually reasonable because the portions are quite big! So many gluten free options and we really enjoyed it! Would definitely recommend

Incorrect order and then the staff attempted to blame myself for the error. Some accountability would be appreciated.

Once again I creamed in my jeans when I had Sansho supreme........ Sushi that is. Go here and order off the chef's special get the spicy. Agedasi tofu. On second thought just go there multiple times and eventually order everything on the menu and realize that you have landed upon a true gem. The chef special has stuff flown in from Japan on a regular basis you'll never see the same thing twice
