The all around best bakery. The BEST doughnuts this side of of Mississippi. We live in GrandForks and go thru Oliver to Kelowna just for Big Als. Little longer drive but worth the gas
We have stopped by this bakery several times in the past and most recently on our way to and from Osoyoos to go camping. We were very impressed that we could phone ahead and place an order so that we could just make a quick stop and my wife ran in to pay and pick up. The sausage rolls are always our big favorites as well as the apple fritters and another sweet bakery item, not sure what it is called, but it is made, deep fried (NOT greasy at all) and then chocolate is drizzled...
Big Al's caters to a local clientele...a coffee/bakery vibe. Not fancy..but loads of nice folks.
However...they have a fabulous item...only available till gone, fresh each day. Like the sausage rolls and other baked goods.. and then there is the piece de' resistance...a double chocolate croissant. The problem is...once you have one, you have to come back the next day..and the next...which is fine if you live in Oliver, not so much if you fa fa away.
