Starting off with saying that our meal was delicious and our service was good. The poor rating comes from not being able to take part in the chef's 6 course tasting menu. I believe it was sometime in May that I booked dinner for three on August 2nd. Shortly after booking I messaged the Sonora Room via the reservation platform they used. I inquired about taking part in the chef's 6 course tasting menu and was informed that that would be possible and nothing was needed at that point as the menu was still being developed. Then closer about two weeks before the reservation I checked in again via the reservation platform and staff assured me that we'd be able to take part in the 6 course tasting menu. So I was quite surprised and disappointed when we arrived for our meal and asked to do the tasting menu and told it was not being offered. I tried to reach out to the Sonora Room staff member that I was communicating with online to see what the disconnection was but I never received a response.

Gorgeous setting on the balcony at Sonora Room - amazing views, and the blinds to cut the sun were much appreciated. The food was great, particularly the focaccia/kale/mushroom/prosciutto special (though both this and the risotto were on the salty side). The wines poured aren't available retail, but surprisingly neither were to our taste.

I was treated to the tasting menu for my birthday and enjoyed every bite. The paired wines were impressive too. Service was great, friendly and efficient, without too much small talk. The views from the patio are spectacular. The chef knows how to cook and plate well.

I have been frequently to the this restaurant and it was always very good. However this time I was quite disappointed.
For starters the selection is quite small for such a magnificent establishment.
The focaccia bread was stale. The heirloom tomato salad lacked had almost no dressing. The tomatoes were watery and had little flavour. The amount of feta cheese was negligible. For $29 this was no bargain.
The main course was a chicken breast. Somewhat on the dry side with a small piece of polenta. The dish was overwhelmed by too many dry herbs.
The tomato soup was solid, the apricot salad again was disappointing.
The dessert list is something you can easily pass on. With the Okanagan bursting with extraordinary fruit nothing was in sight like a peach cobbler. Not exactly taking advantage of local produce when in season.
I hope the Sonora Restaurant ups its game again and returns to better performance.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Burrowing Owl‘s restaurant, the Sonora Room. In every way, it was a truly exceptional experience.

The staff, notably, Michael, the restaurant manager, Marsha, our wonderful server, and Sophia, who greeted us - went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. Michael’s wine knowledge is amazing and we learned so much from him. Marsha is personable and so very efficient. And Sophia is a bundle of positive enthusiasm!

The food (we had the duck) was excellent, and the Pinot Noir accompanied it perfectly.
We want to thank everyone who made our evening so special, and we will look forward to seeing them again soon!

One of the best meals my boyfriend and I have ever had. We sat on the patio and the view was beautiful, 10/10. We will be making it a tradition to come visit everytime we’re in town!

Joining a long table dinner was a dinner adventure. Each dish was a unique and delicious! Not to be outdone, the regular menu is equally fantastic. Thank you for making me feel welcome and recommending the duck, it was incredible and I left wanting to come back and try more!

I know you don't go here for a value meal but $32 for a children's meal is a bit ridiculous. Had to pour my own wine a few times. Nice property, nice views, but overpriced and felt service can be a bit more attentive.

Kid-friendliness: Beware, it's $16 for the kids pasta, plus another $16 if you want chicken in top.

On a tranquil holiday Monday, my partner and I sought a light snack between tastings, hoping for a cozy table for two in the nearly empty restaurant.

Despite the sparse ambiance, when we indicated our lack of reservation, we were curtly informed of a 20-minute wait and advised to wander outside until a table became available, as they had just seated two parties of four.

The lack of any interim hospitality alternatives was striking—no suggestion of a glass of wine at the bar or any effort to accommodate us, all while the staff appeared more bothered by our presence than inclined to assist.

The atmosphere conveyed more displeasure at our arrival than any semblance of welcoming hospitality.

The worst experience I have ever had in the entire BC, the service was horrible and the staff were very unprofessional and rude, especially the guy that I assume he was the supervisor of the waiters! Save yourself the trouble and avoid this restaurant at all costs. There are plenty of better options out there.

I have to say I was expecting a lot more. The food was mostly good, except for the burger that tasted like it used a frozen patty - super dry and hard. The service was also very slow even though the restaurant was mostly empty. Probably would not go back.

I have been here at least three times and every time I have been it has been an excellent experience. Definitely my favourite restaurant in BC. The views here are amazing so you’re lucky if u snag a spot on their patio. You honestly can’t go wrong with their charcuterie board.

Very bad experience with this place. After 45 min of waiting the waitress came over and still can't confirm the table. We saw two groups left with same situation. So, We left and will tell all our friends about this place.

We came in for a late dinner after driving in from Vancouver. We were about half an hour late and were happily seated with no problem. It was the best part of our hectic travel day.

The food especially the beef carpaccio was amazing. We came with 2 young kids and they told jokes and kept them entertained.

We had been here before but tonite was especially memorable and special. Thank you again for accommodating us and for making us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back!
