This pub near Gallagher lake is open year round. The food is traditional pub style food. Portions are small. They charge 4$ for a side of aioli for fries without notice.

New owners cut down old growth, massive, healthy trees that lent shade and atmosphere to the property.
shame.

Really like the private booths. Has an old fashion English pub feel. Good food. Friendly service.

I was interested in the trivia, so visited on a Sunday. First time it was Superbowl, so no trivia, no problem. As a fan of a good eggs benny, I ordered that. Now, there are plenty of good reviews about the food, so I was pleased to anticipate a nice, if not great, eggs benny. What a let down! The poached eggs were nice, but only a shy tablespoon of bland hollandaise on top. Under the egg was what appeared to be a thin slice from a pork loin. Below that was a sort of soggy bread. Darn. Not so good. The potatoes had potential, being those tiny ones that can be so tasty, but they had a spice that I found unpleasant. There was no garnish, no bit of fruit, just the eggs on the stuff under and the spuds. I was disappointed. Not a nice brunch. Sigh.
For a sample of a good eggs benny, check out John's Place in downtown Victoria. There's pictures on their website.
Well, I know better than to order the benny. But there's enough on the menu that my hopes remained up.
The next Sunday I ordered the fish 'n chips, which has many a good review. But they never got served what I did. The smallest piece of fish I have ever been served was on a pile of stale fries, part of which was soggy from the tablespoon of cole slaw dosed on the side of them. It tasted pretty good for the three or four forks that it took to finish it off. Again, I was disappointed. I told the waitress, when she pick up the plate of inferior fries that I declined to fill my self with, that that was the smallest piece of fish that I've ever been served. She defended by saying that was a restaurant portion, three ounces. That includes the batter. Maybe an ounce and a half of fish. Smaller than the McDonald's fish burger. Nobody is going to rave about this. It's not even up to the standards of any sensible restaurant who knows that happy customers and repeat business keep the cash flowing. I felt that I wasted my money. I know better than to order that again. If you want a good fish and chips, one place I would not hesitate to recommend in Oliver is Auntie Ags.
I was so annoyed by my disappointment regarding lunch that I didn't stay for the trivia.
My advice to the management is to make the best that you can of what's on the menu, rather than the cheapest you think you can get away with. Charge what you must, but make it worth the price, and good enough to have the customer feeling satisfied enough to pass on the good word to others.
Now I'm wary of ordering food here. I don't like feeling I spent my money in vain.
I'd like to hear from the management about this. It's not the cook's or server's fault if management skimps.

Today we celebrated the 4 year anniversary of my dad’s passing. Miranda our waitress helped us do this in a wonderful way. I want to let you know she went above and Beyond allowing us to celebrate. She set an extra place for my dad Dwight, poured a beer and played Jonny Cash who was his favourite. We were blessed by her kindness and compassion and we are very grateful to have her be part of our story.
Thank you.
The food was good. Fish and chips and bangers and mash. We will be back.

Booths not available reserved for evening we were there at 1:00. Waitress would be let go if she worked for me! Burger was cold and wet bun. Sloppy! Small fish portions. Expensive for what you get. Not a cozy atmosphere. Row tables in center of room. Cold 🥶 brrrrr

You're very kind and polite worker named Miranda was working alone in the front and had a great attitude!! Super attentive and friendly. I tried the stuffed yorkies and one of the burgers. Food was delicious and I will definitely be back and tell my friends & family about this place! This place is super lucky to have a person like Miranda working because she made our day and looking forward to seeing her again!!
