This place has really good food! It actually took me by surprise, but once I tasted here I’ve never been to any other place in Penticton.
I really enjoy all their varieties and the buffet option on Wednesdays, is amazing!

Food has authentic Indian flavours of a variety of spices. Samosas are delicious, Prawn Curry is awesome and the Butter Chicken I like spicy! Rice is fluffy and light. Best in town

Delicious food, albeit the sit in experience could improve. I gave it 4 stars as the restaurant tables, Walls and chairs could benefit from seeing some hot water and soap.
Visited on a Wednesday night when they had the buffet. We decided to try and it was ok. The food was good but not outstanding. The tastes just seemed to be too similar for me. It also seemed like the food had been out for a while as it wasn’t busy. The tandoori chicken was hard and stale. They advertised the tandoori chicken came with the buffet as in an extra. I don’t know why but it wasn’t great. The staff were very friendly and attentive. No issues there! Having said all that, the prices were very reasonable. If you want high end quality you should expect to pay much more.

I visited Ashoka again after quite some time, hoping the food quality had improved, but sadly, it was still disappointing. We ordered Dahi Bhalla Chaat, Paneer Pakode, tea, and a shake. The Dahi Bhalla Chaat in particular was a letdown. it honestly felt more like a lassi-bhalla mix than proper chaat 😆 (video attached). Other items were okay.
On top of that, the service wasn’t great. The food was brought out one item at a time, which made the whole experience feel slow and disorganized.
Overall, It wasn’t worth spending time and money.

Restaurantji Recommends
I visited Ashoka Indian Cuisine three days ago and bought a box of Indian sweets. Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The entire box tasted weird and off, as if the sweets were stale or spoiled. Even worse, one of the pieces had visible mold on it—a black spot that you can clearly see in the attached photo.
This is a serious food safety issue. Serving moldy and bad-tasting sweets shows a complete lack of hygiene and quality control. It’s not just disappointing—it’s dangerous to customers’ health.
I’m extremely upset and will not be returning. I hope the restaurant takes this seriously and improves their food handling practices. Until then, I strongly recommend others avoid buying sweets from here.
Ashoka has a $15 buffet every Wednesday until 9pm with 11 veggie dishes (And 2 meat). It was REALLY fresh and light. Veggie Pakoras were very fresh and not pasty. The meat in the butter chicken and goat curry were melt in your mouth tender. Naan bread was fresh and hot. I think some of the best Indian food I've had in the city and it was in a buffet! Also $6 imported beer or $26 bottles of wine. Friendly smiling staff were very attentive. Can't be beat!
Such authentic foo6 and well priced 15 for buffet.
The two entrees that I ordered were so good I ordered a third for my lunch the next day
Really good food and service
