Don't know about the atmosphere but we were so disappointed with the food - ordered the chicken soup and it hardly had any chicken in it - big disappointment - won't be going back.

There are three two-person tables available for eating in the store.
There is a parking lot, but no restroom.
It was friendly and the taste was good.

Went in yesterday for lunch with my wife, the staff, especially the woman at the register was really friendly, and the food was excellent. I thought the prices were fair considering the amount of food, and how wonderful it was. We will definitely go back!

Possibly the best Vietnamese food in the South Okanagan, and certainly the best for vegetarians/vegans.

Ba Ba is a tiny restaurant owned by a long-time local Vietnamese family, mainly focused on takeaway (they have two two-seat tables for occasional eat-in customers, which is lovely if you want a quick bite for one or two people, but normally you'd want to count on taking the food away).

Several of their signature dishes, including the outstanding Bun Ba Ba Bowl (try saying that 10 times quickly) offer a vegetarian option (with fish sauce) or vegan option (no fish sauce or other non-plant ingredients). Instead of the common "oh, you're vegetarian so here's the same dish without the meat, and therefore without much flavor," they add an intensely flavorful soy patty that the mom was trained by monks in Vietnam to create. Vegetarian Vietnamese without compromise on taste!

I've uploaded pictures of the menu with the vegetarian/vegan options highlighted (the staff did the highlighting for me).

Highly recommended.

Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian and vegan options. The family that owns Ba Ba specifically cater to vegetarians and vegans; in particular their signature "soy patty" (which the mama was trained by monks in Vietnam to create) is full of flavor, not the all-too-common "here's the dish with the meat and therefore the flavor removed."

Best Bahn Mi I have found in the Okanagan! Bread was perfectly crunchy and the sauce was amazing. Also had the brisket pho which was delicious and great portion size.

Holy Moly

I ordered the classic Bánh mì sandwich. It is good. A little pricey. Considering they are the first to do Bánh mì in Penticton as far as I know, I give them 5★.

The Bánh mì was tasty, the bun wasn't as crunchy as I expected a standard Bánh mì to be but it was good. No washrooms and no wheelchair access as far as I could see at their entrance.

Wheelchair accessibility: None as far as I could see near entrance

Based on the high ratings we were expecting more from this place. Perhaps their specialty banh mi would have been good but we both went with a vermicelli bowl. My lemongrass chicken bowl was underwhelming with not a lot of chicken and not much flavor in general. My husband's special dry noodles were a bit better, but still lacking the funky zip that we love in Vietnamese food. The waitress was very friendly. Since we drove from out of town we were disappointed that there was no bathroom available (although to be fair, that was stated on their website). For us, not worth a return trip.

So I was excited to see a spicy lemon grass option since I last ordered...sad to say it honestly tasted instant to me...I love this food and I'm obsessed with it and the broth is the foundation. That being said, the customer service was amazing as well as the freshness and the salad rolls were great. I just feel the broth needs work. In their defense I did order very close to closing, which I didn't realize till after.
