Clancy’s. A great dive bar, a hidden gem.
*****
7pm Tuesday, late May. My wife and I had never been in the neighborhood. We saw the sandwich board on the sidewalk.
The bar was moderately full, about 30% full. One young waitress, Paris, was taking drink orders, making drinks, serving drinks and serving the food from the kitchen. She did great. The large 777 tattoo inked on her lower neckline is often associated with spiritual significance, representing introspection, self-discovery, and a connection to inner wisdom.
The beautiful old wooden bar that housed the liquor bottles displayed on the shelves and draft taps, was centered in the lower section of the bar room. From our perspective, it appeared to be a surround circular bar with seating on all four sides, there were a couple of perimeter sitting areas against the walls, one step up from and surrounding the main floor that provided excellent views of the many TV’s broadcasting NHL and MLB games. The playoff hockey game play by play was being played over the speakers which added to the thrill of the game the regulars at the bar were enjoying. The regulars were an eclectic crowd indeed and I honestly cannot recall the last time I saw a gal sitting on a bar stool in her Daisy Dukes. Ponytails, baseball caps, tattoos and T-shirts, shorts and sandals. Just a super unpretentious crowd. Everyone was friendly and enjoying each other’s company and conversation.
The BC Lottery game kiosk was not working, so we could not play Keno or Poker however we watched the board, and I figure I saved about $40.
I am not certain, but it seemed to me there was some sort of horse racing being broadcast in one of the upper sections where you could wager on a race being broadcast. I have to go back an investigate this in more detail.
Shot glasses were regularly lined up and filled at the bar and delivered to the patrons seated around the bar and to the perimeter booth folks to accompany their beers.
My wife ordered the BLT with beef and barley soup. The sandwich was toasted to perfection; the lettuce was chopped and made for a perfect sandwich to bite into. There was just the right amount of mayo, and the bacon was cooked to a perfect crispness. The soup was plentiful and savory. A truly remarkable value priced at $12.95
The hamburger special on Tuesday was $8.75. Yes, that is right. Eight dollars and 75 cents. Not Eighteen 75. The catch was you had to order a beer. OMG a beer in the bar, wow, well OK, I will, damn you.
How much was a pint of beer? $5. Five dollars.
I was asked if I wanted fries, I thought for sure the cost of the fries offered would make the low price of the burger make sense by charging $10 for the side, but that was not the case. I chose the onion rings, and that set me back a whole $3.50. And I could barely eat them all.
I am not really a hamburger guy and often do not order hand-helds, but because the price was so attractive….
I forgot to add cheese, but did not want to press my luck.
The burger arrived with lettuce, tomato, red onion, 2 smashed patties grilled perfectly, 2 creamy melted cheese slices and a strip of crispy bacon on a super fresh soft bun. The flavors and textures were fantastic, finger licking good and it held together without ending up all over the place with everything sliding out. I was mighty impressed, I think I gotta tell you.
I must return this way again to fully and better appreciate the character and ambience of this delightful discovery. It is just so nice and rewarding to stumble into a place like this every now and again.

We are now a married family of 4 because of Dell, maybe. 10/10 would recommend. And they play sound for sports game and will cater to what you want to watch. Very accommodating. Dell is king 👑

Wow! Great little spot! Food was fantastic, homemade burgers and meatball sandwich (Del’s nana’s recipe). Soooo good! As it says on the wall….a great little dive bar! Good food, cold beer, and good company!

A little hole in the wall pub. Not much to look at but plenty of TVs for the game and great pub food.

Please update your Skip the Dishes menu for Bangers and Mash. Listed $18.95, it automatically adds another $3.50 for an extra sausage. This should be an option! not ‘sneaked’ on the customer, where they end up paying extra for something that was not their choice. Be fair!!!

Public houses have always been the community gathering place- music, friends, good food and great drinks! Clancy's Pub & Grill has been the place to connect with friends, listen to live music, play pool or join karaoke since 1992. Old school, hometown pub feel with all the friendly service that draw many to the “dive”. Looking for best Wednesday wing night, tasty pizza Thursdays, Friday steaks or getting a refreshing local pint. Good job Chef Jake with the great touches to the menu! Always lovely and attentive service with Mel, Paris & Daryl! Been back 3 times in the past month! See you soon! 🏆🍺🍔🥩🍗🍕

Great place to have drinks with friends and play darts. Service was great……Dell was amazing! Loved the chill atmosphere and the “real” feel. Not your typical stereo type place. I would highly recommend especially for a night around the town.
