OROLO Restaurant + Cocktail Bar

This place is a city winery restaurant. They actually bring the wine here and ferment and barrel it onsite, in a space that used to be an old theatre. The restaurant sits where the ticket booth once was, and the salon—where they now make the wine—used to be part of the theatre itself. Every dish on the menu is paired with one of their own wines, and there’s also wine tasting, so you don’t have to drive hours out to a winery—you can experience it right in downtown Penticton with excellent food. If you’re in Penticton, this place is truly a must-go.

Cocktails were great service was not. Felt ignored while we were there and had to go to the bar to order a second round because our server never came back to our table in about 40 minutes.

This place was amazing! The Server, I believe name was Stella, gave a stellar performance in knowledge and presenting of the wine and menu specialties. They were out of the wine that was a suggested pairing for the cornish hen piri piri I ordered but offered me a taste of 2 other wines before I chose a Chardonnay (a wine I don't usually like) to drink with it. It was all very delicious and my husband also enjoyed the duck with a wonderful Grenach. The deserts we ordered with a decaf americano finished off the dinner perfectly. I purchased a bottle of the Chardonnay to remind myself there are good ones. Thank you Orolo for a wonderful anniversary evening!

Loved Orolo! Great atmosphere, awesome service our server was Tracy she was very attentive and fun.
My salmon was perfectly cooked and my husband raved about his steak. We got the made at table Caesar salad , delicious.

We ate at Orolo tonight with our friends. It was very busy as it’s long weekend and Michelle was looking after a lot of groups but she was sweet and made sure our drinks and food orders were put in and brought out on time and correct. Thanks again, Michelle!

I wandered into Orolo randomly looking for a nice place to eat and have a cocktail solo. I was pleasantly surprised. There was a live Jazz Band( Yanti and friends) who set the mood perfectly. The service was 5 star, from beginning to end. I ordered the wine flight with Oysters( west coast Fanny Bay) to start and every wine I tried was good, the Pinot Grigio stood out( I bought a bottle on the way out). My Main was the Piri Piri Hen and I thought the Chef cooked it exceptional! I finished with the Espresso Martini for dessert and once again, it was top notch. I think this is the best restaurant in the Penticton area!!!

I love this place. The food and wine are wonderful

We started with scallops and beef tartare… both were absolutely perfect. Then we shared the panzanella salad, the pork belly, seafood rice and the Wagyu. Everything was cooked and season to perfection. Our server was lovely and the restaurant is comfortable and beautiful. Thank you, again, Orolo.

The food was outstanding — we tried the oysters, calamari, steak, and the burger, and each dish was cooked to absolute perfection. The quality and flavor were truly impressive. While the service was decent, it didn’t quite meet the high standards I’d expect from an upscale restaurant. That said, the ambiance more than made up for it — the vibe is off the charts. It’s easily one of the most stunning and well-designed establishments I’ve ever visited.

We visited Orolo Restaurant and Chronos Winery after an exceptional afternoon spent at the owners newest venture, Evolve Sparkling House. An elevated, delicious meal, and sabering my first bottle of bubbles, made for a memorable day. The Scallops starter was my absolute favorite dish!
The Time Family of Wines is impressive and sets a high standard. You must visit all 3 while in Penticton.

This review is only for cocktails, not food…

“Oh cool, I’ve never made those drinks before…”

…Are not the words you want to hear from your bartender based on your drink order…from the menu!

But on a recent Friday night that’s exactly what we heard in response to ordering a Corpse Reviver & El Diablo…from their HH cocktail menu!

New bartender in-training, no problem. I get it. But if you’re charging $15-20 for a premium cocktail experience you’d damn sure better have that trainee under the direct supervision of a tenured bartender.

But this Friday night, two bartenders with no experience making proper cocktails. How do I know? They told us!!

So let me be clear, it’s not their fault, this is squarely on mgmt. They were trying & being honest about the situation.

And the cherry on top is this was during Happy Hour, but when the check came, the HH pricing was nowhere to be found. We didn’t even have it in us to call it out, we just wanted to escape ASAP…so we paid, yes tipped and slithered out as quickly as possible.

Imagine if they filled the kitchen with amateur cooks on the busiest night…you can’t cause it would never happen…so why is it ok for the bar?

For a place touting itself as one of the best cocktail programs in town, this could not have been more disappointing…what a waste of $50!

Haaaaard pass!
