Vibrant, flavourful, large portions and well plated dishes. The staff were so friendly and always checking in. I'm visiting from the Kootenays, and I highly recommend the Brie and Barrel. I highly recommend the Chicken Cordon Brie and linguine 🍽️

We went there this evening for dinner and had a great time. Had wine with their Brie appetizer, then had the Moroccan Lamb Tangine and Moroccan Chicken with lemon confit. Finished up with their 'deconstructed' baklava and coffee. We got to chat with the owner, and got the backstory on the Swept Away Inn and the hard work he and his wife went through to get established here in Port ten years ago (hard to believe it's been that long) . We did intitially try to use a certificate given to us during the previous ownership, but to be fair, he showed us the log book of redemptions and they were a mess - no controls, no names, no dates when redeemed, could be printed out and redeemed multiple times. Not surprising the last owners had to sell, if that was an example of how they ran the business. Finally, it didn't help that we sat on the cert for a number of years and didn't have much documentation from when we received the gift. They have weekly features and change their menu from time to time. Looking forward to going back again.

Really enjoyed our meal and service over the holidays. Will be back. The only thing is the coconut tzaziki was loose and not enjoyable. I like classic renditions of the famous Greek dip, made with real greek yogurt. Don't forget about us omnivores!

Had the pleasure of dining here for the first time and it was beyond delicious, food was excellent, service was great even when it was busy.
We sat on the covered patio and were still comfortable in the fall weather as it had ample heating!
The fried risotto balls were so delish, the chicken fettuccini was super flavourful and the drinks were perfect each round.
Will definitely be a new regular spot for me ?

What a super restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. The waiter and waitress were super friendly- the food was outstanding and the lovely owner ( and chef) came out with dessert so we were able to take the opportunity to praise her too. we were new in town and the guys gave us lots of invaluable ‘locals’ tourist advice which we were very grateful for. we would like to come back during our stay. thank you so much ☺️

We were over night in Port Alberni to take the ferry to Bamfield. Found this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised.
Food was excellent and well presented. On the higher end price wise but worth it.
We sat outside but it was covered and there were heaters at every table

A gorgeous evening spent at Brie and Barrel. The food was fabulous - our party of six shared the Classic Bruschetta, 2 orders of Arancini and an order of Olives, for our Appie. All were absolutely delicious. For the Main, my fella and I shared the Moroccan Special (divine) and the Lemon Pepper Prawn Linguine (amazing). The menu does not disappoint. A flight of Rose, the most delicious chocolate mousse to share and a Decaf. coffee, rounded out our dinner. Staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Thank you for an amazing evening, Dan and Bouchra. We’ll be back.

Enjoyed the food and the kind staff. Had the Chicken Cordon Brie. Perfect balance of favor and not too rich.

Made a reservation for 6:30pm, as we LOVED this place the last few times we went & have raved about it since. This experience we had was bizarre, we showed up at 615, were seated right away. The server brought us water and took our drink/food orders right away. We received our drinks and enjoyed the lovely live music. We waited for 1 hour for our food without mentioning anything, as we know there are new owners/changes recently. My mom checked in with the server at 7:45 as we had not interacted with our server nor had received food. During this time other tables who were seated after us received their food. The server said he would check with the kitchen, and no follow up was done. I then went up to the front to ask for the bill so we could get food elsewhere as we had almost been waiting an hour and a half. The reaction from the staff was bizarre. They printed out my bill with my 2 drinks, did not even acknowledge or apologize for what occurred. We ended up leaving and going to twin city brewing. Super odd.

Waited over a hour and 15 for a meal… poor service, very small portions and a big bill at the end… will never be going back
