This was my first time trying CakeYa and I was so pleasantly surprised at the quality of the cake. I ordered the macha and red bean cake for a friend's birthday brought it on a plane to the Yukon and ate it the next day and it was unbelievably fresh, moist, authentic flavors and the best part not overly sweet at all. It has been one of the best cakes I have honestly ever had. I would highly recommend this bakery for any special cakes especially if you like cakes on the more natural not so sweet side. It was just perfect and staff were very friendly and sweet. A little gem in Port Moody for sure!

Small takeout Japanese bakery. Picked up a strawberry roll cake for the new years eve and was pleasantly impressed at the taste and quality of their baked goods. Cake was fluffy and moist while the cream and strawberries were on point. Recommended!

We had passed by Cake Ya many times and I'd always been curious about it. Finally I managed to go and check out this cute little shop. It is a small bakery with no seating area; they appear to be known for their Japanese style cakes and puddings. They also make some elegantly crafted confections called nerikiri which looked to be similar in texture to mochi. I decided to buy a few of their puddings to bring home and try with the family.Featured here:Royal Milk Tea PuddingGreen Tea PuddingCoffee PuddingThe puddings were quite creamy in texture. None of us cared for the Green Tea pudding. The Royal Milk Tea and Coffee puddings were very enjoyable though. I did personally feel that the Milk Tea flavor could have been a bit stronger but was still happy with it. Coffee flavor was very strong and was easily the best of the three flavors. The nerikiri looked so lovely. I will have to go back and try some another time. I'd really like to try some of their cake too, since "cake" is after all part of the shop's name!Service: GoodParking: Limited free parking on the streetLocation: 3256 St. Johns St., Port Moody, BC

[Take out only ] My first time trying their cakes, and I wish I had known about this place sooner. I purchased half matcha and half strawberry cakes. They are super smooth and creamy. I am typically not fond of red bean in cakes because they are often overly sweet, but the red bean matcha cake here is right sweetness for me.Hope they will have a new location with bigger space for sitting in.

Our cake was very nice , would go back. Make sure you give at least 2 days to order cake. We got one of their premade roll cakes.

This is a very small home style bakery. There are no seatings available, just a quick stop to pick up a home baking style cake. They have strawberries, mango, metcha, or chestnut stuffed cream filled roll cakes available everyday. If you want a regular cake, you got to order ahead.Japanese family owned. Nothing fancy, less sweet and very soft sponge cake base which tastes healthier and less dry compared to T&T style cakes.

Yummy Japanese Swiss roll cakes. We got matcha which wasn’t dry and strawberry and mango. There was a lot of cream and the cake was very light and fluffy.
