Tried MunChi’s pretzels at the MLS game and instantly felt like I was back in Germany—the best I’ve had since visiting there. I even went back for seconds but they’d already sold out. The only “downside” is they’re so good they disappear too fast—bring more next time! On top of that, the staff was super friendly, which is impressive given how hectic it was inside BC Place.

We will definitely be back the next time we visit Vancouver.

Had the chance to get a few at BC Place. The best is the cinnamon sugar pretzel.

As a German living abroad, it’s always been hard to find a proper Bretzel. Most places don’t quite get it right, but Munchi’s are by far the most authentic I’ve had outside of Germany — they really remind me of home. The dough has the right texture, the flavor is spot on, and you can tell they’re made with care. They also serve a variety of other German dishes, which are all tasty and worth trying.

We placed our order several days in advance, well before the scheduled pickup date. Then, just 20 minutes before pickup—while we were already on the way—she canceled. There was no offer to make up for the inconvenience, which was incredibly frustrating. We were preparing for a road trip and had purposely bought less elsewhere because we made a large order with her.

Even though this happened last year, after reading recent reviews with similar experiences, we felt it was important to share ours. Clearly, this wasn’t an isolated incident, and I’m sure many others didn’t even bother leaving a review.

What’s even more disappointing is that she only seems to respond or offer anything after someone posts a public complaint. That’s not how responsible business owners handle their mistakes. If you mess up, you reach out and make it right—not just when your reputation is on the line.

To add to the concern, we even spoke to a woman who had worked for her and said she had to chase down her pay for months. It’s incredibly disappointing to see such poor customer service and a lack of accountability. I really hope she takes steps to improve how she runs her business.

The food from MunChi reminds me so much of my times in Munich and the surrounding areas. The pretzels are delicious go great with beer. The sweet treats that are made around the holidays are everything you would find at the traditional Christmas market.

If you’re looking for authentic German food in Vancouver, MunChi is it! Amelie makes the most incredible (topped) pretzels and Streuselkuchen — just like in Germany. You can find her at local markets, but come early because she’s almost always sold out (for good reason!). Everything is homemade, full of flavour, and made with love. So happy to have this little taste of Munich here in the Lower Mainland!

Munchi is awesome! I’ve tried so many of the owner Amelie’s delicious German treats from her market stalls and they’re always 10/10!

Authentic Bavarian Pretzels Have Arrived in Vancouver – Thanks to MunChi

It’s a rare and welcome treat to find truly authentic Bavarian pretzels in Vancouver—but MunChi delivers exactly that.

I first discovered MunChi through Instagram, and I was immediately intrigued. Their visuals alone promised something special, and when I visited their former Chinatown location, I found much more than I expected. The menu offered a broad selection of traditional German fare, far beyond just pretzels.

Everything at MunChi is crafted in true German style, with a clear commitment to authenticity. For those craving the real taste of Germany, this is the place to go.

One standout for me is the Leberkäsesemmel—a must-try item. If you're even remotely curious, don’t hesitate. It’s absolutely worth the trip. Another personal favorite is the Brezel with cream cheese and chives, a classic snack I enjoyed frequently while living in Germany. MunChi’s version transported me straight back to Berlin.

The heart behind MunChi is Amelie, whose passion for German cuisine is evident in every detail. She goes above and beyond to engage with customers and ensure an authentic experience. She was incredibly generous with her time and happy to answer my many questions. Meeting someone so genuinely dedicated to sharing her culture through food was a true pleasure.

As for the occasional negative reviews, many appear to stem from delivery service issues, which are outside of MunChi’s control. Based on my personal experience, I can’t help but feel those reviews don’t reflect the reality of what this place offers.

Having sampled every pretzel I could find across the Lower Mainland, I can confidently say: if you're looking for the authentic taste of Munich, MunChi is the real deal.

My experience with Munchie German Foods has been fantastic every time - we ordered catering for an event, and I also ate the Brezeln at a market booth, a soccer viewing party and during the Christmas Market...and everytime the products were delicious and decadent - especially the Charcuterie Brezeln. I also loved the Spaetzle with mushroom gravy...devine👌😊. Excellent and fast service, professional and top quality.

I came to a festival and got to enjoy the food from MunChi. My kids loved the pretzel pizza and I really liked the bun with chicken schnitzel. Everything is handmade, fresh and authentic. Amelie has a wonderful customer service. They are very friendly. We will try different options next time.

Would give a zero. This place is a goddamn joke. Why even have a business if you can’t fulfill an order. “Open” 4 hrs a week and even then they cant deliver.
They’re on Uber yet all there time slots aren’t available. Note to owner, stop wasting peoples time and money.
Find a new hobby.
