Superb quality food and a wide variety of authentic Mexican recipes. You feel as if you have been invited into a Mexican home for dinner. A real treat.

Horrible experience. We had reservations for 6:45 which we arrived on time. Our table wasn't ready. There is no where to wait and we had to wait for 15 minutes outside. We were finally seated and our drinks arrived shortly thereafter as we ordered them while waiting outside. Because I'm lactose intolerant, I reviewed the menu before I came and had decided on one of their salads minus the feta and add chicken as my protein. When the waiter came I ordered the salad only to be told they were out of salads. It's 7:15 and you have no salad? Really??? I explained to tgecwaiter that I was allergic to dairy. He suggested this chicken dish wrapped in a banana leaf. Sounded good so I ordered it. My meal came. I had shredded chicken in some kind of sauce with a slice of onion on top. That's it? I am almost finished my tasteless meal when the waiter finally returned to see hiw it was. I said it would have been nice to have some rice or something with it. He came back with a side of rice - a little late don't you think? Not impressed. We finished and asked for the bill. That crappy chicken dish was $34.50. Are you kidding me??? My total bill with two drinks plus tip was $83.09. When I arrived home I wasn't feeling well, and ended up only throwing up my dinner. Wow. $83.00 down the toilet. This morning I looked at the menu to see what it was that the waiter had recommended only to find out that it was supposed to come with rice and 4 corn tortillas. He never brought my rice till I suggested it needed something and I never received any corn tortillas. If you want salad you better arrive when it opens. I have never heard of a restaurant running out of salad. Will I be back - no. Would I recommend this place - no. Thank goodness the company I was with was fantastic. Save your time and money and find a Mexican restaurant worth spending your money on.As a response to your response, yes we enjoyed the drinks we purchased which was never disputed. It was a 15-minute delay and we never received any churros. I'm not sure where you received your mis-information from.

I’ve eaten a lot of food in a lot of countries and one thing I’ve always lamented was that it’s been so hard to find good Mexican food on the coast, until now.My wife and I ate at Originals this evening. The wait staff was excellent and hospitable, the atmosphere was homey and rustic and the food was so much better than expected. The last few places we’ve tried have been dismally disappointing but now that we’ve found Originals, we don’t have to bother looking anywhere else. The burrito Original (wet) and enchiladas suizas were amazing. The starters we tried, guacamole with chips and nachos were authentic and marvellous. We had three boxes of leftovers because the portions were larger than expected. It’s so nice to eat somewhere that serves solid portions at reasonable prices and the food is wonderful. Six stars.

Delicious, authentic style Mexican food. Look out for the auto 18% tip added to all tables of 5+ people. The staff didn’t point it out when they gave the bill and we weren’t anticipating it for 4 adults with 2 toddlers who walked in without a booking. When we asked about it, the server simply said ‘it’s on the website.’ I couldn’t find it.

Worse customer service. To whom it may concern,I deeply appreciate your prompt response and the effort you've invested in addressing my concerns. However, I would like to share a few points with you.Firstly, I have visited your establishment twice. On my initial visit two months ago, I arrived without a reservation and waited for an hour for a table. Unfortunately, I wasn't seated and had to dine elsewhere. I understand this was due to my lack of reservation, which I should have made in advance. My second visit was today, for which I did make a reservation. However, upon arrival, I was informed that I would be seated indoors, despite my explicit request for an outdoor table during the booking process. If outdoor seating was unavailable, a courtesy call to inform me would have been appreciated.Furthermore, I noticed an empty outdoor table and requested it, emphasizing the significance of the day for us. Regrettably, I was informed that it was reserved. If tables are not guaranteed, as you said, it would have been appreciated if that table could have been offered to us.Our only intention was to enjoy our evening at your restaurant without any issues.Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I ordered Enchiladas Suizas and enjoyed it. However to me it was a bit bland. Tacos were good. The portion was reasonable but not really large.BTW, nice staff who could give us table quickly on a busy night.

My wife and I visited Original's Cafe Mexicano last night, for the first time. We found street parking nearby, and were seated immediately; we had a reservation. The restaurant is in an old house, and the dining area is in the two east rooms. We were in the front, which has three tables and a big window. The back room looked like it might have been slightly larger. We started with the Guacamole and Chips and a couple of Margarita Originals. As soon as we took the first bites, we looked across the table at each other and immediately agreed that this was the best guacamole we've ever had. It's really that good. Then I had a sip of margarita, and I thought, "This is perfection". I actually went to find the bartender to tell him he'd just made me the best margarita I ever tasted. My wife chose the Enchiladas Suizas, while I went with the Carne Asada. I (foolishly, it turned out) added the Pollo (chicken flautas) to my order. Both mains were simply stellar. The Carne Asada comes with a slice of grilled cactus, which I've never tried before. It's tasty on its own and, a bit like tofu, seems to absorb the flavours around it. I tried my wife's Enchiladas, and they were excellent. The Carne Asada was so filling that I couldn't even start on the flautas...I had them for breakfast this morning. The desserts look great, but will have to wait for the next visit! We finished up with a couple of Cafe de Ollas (Mexican infused coffee, cinnamon, cloves, piloncillo), which were delicious and sweet enough to almost serve as dessert. Our server, Mauricio, was excellent, but appeared to be covering the whole restaurant, so service was a little slow. The restaurant advertises that a table reservation is only good for 90 minutes, which wouldn't have been enough last night. That niggle aside, this was the best Mexican meal we've ever had, anywhere, and we are already making plans with friends to visit again.

What an experience, if you love trying new places and love a cool cute atmosphere this is the place. Literally in a house! Great mexican food, I wish it was a bit spicer but Coquitlam is full of white people so I do get it. Very affordable, and great Marg's. 180 for 2 appies, 3 mains and 3 drinks. That including tip! Great prices, fast service

Came here for dinner to catch with friends and was recommended this place. The server was amazing, he was very friendly and attentive to us and gave great suggestions for dinner choices. The food was delicious and portion sizes were pretty reasonable for price. We ordered the nachos to share between 6 people and we barely all finish it. We tried all of their tacos and our favourite with the deep fried fish! I also really enjoyed their brisket enchiladas and the new lamb quessabirria! We also ordered some churro which is delectable, didn’t taste oily at all!!Since it was busy and we were a bigger group we were sat outside on the patio. Unfortunately that night was windy and the gap in the screen door made it pretty cold. We had 2 heaters which is great but unfortunately one of them ran out of propane. :(

My partner and I visited this past weekend for lunch after seeing the positive reviews online. Unfortunately, our experience was not good. We were seated in the back room, which was far too overheated. There was some sticker shock with the prices, but we pivoted easily and ordered a couple of tamales and quesadillas. Our meals came at different times - mine was first and I waited to eat, but by the time my partner’s tamales arrived my quesadillas had gone cold. Worse, many of the tables around us (some of whom had been seated afterwards) received their food first. The server came by to clear our plates without asking if we were done our meal or how everything was. Very disappointing. We won’t be back.

Listen I'm not going to lie. There isn't a better place to get Mexican in the Lower Mainland. I haven't had a meal this good in years. Makes coming out worth it. The food is phenomenal. Out of this world and every bite is the perfect balance of salt, spice and texture. The Quesabirria tacos are worth alone the price of admission. The avocado Tostaditas are so killer. The desserts are amazing and the coffee will keep you awake to order more.Awesome food. The location is a retro fitted house in Port Moody and it's unique and homely. Please go support these guys they aren't dealing in just food but culinary experiences. There's a reason Mexican cuisine is the only one in the world with a UNESCO World Heritage badge. The Original's Cafē Mexicano is bringing that to The Lower Mainland. So please go!
