I will start by saying our service was great. However, our food was terrible. Simple instructions of no mayonnaise on sliders was ignored, one out of six oysters was rancid, seared halibut and risotto was somehow slimy and seafood fettuccine had zero flavour and was luke warm. After my terrible experience I spoke to other people regarding The Boathouse. They all seemed to say the same thing. I wish I had been warned beforehand. Let this be my warning to future diners. There are way better options in Port Moody!

I had a very disappointing experience at the Boathouse in Port Moody last night. When I arrived with my family, I asked for a patio table for 5. The host took my name and phone number and told me it would be about 30–45 minutes. After 15 minutes I checked back, only to be told they actually wouldn’t call me and that it was “first come, first serve.” This was very frustrating and confusing, since they had already taken my information.
I waited again, and when I returned after just 5 minutes, I ended up sitting and waiting for about 20 more minutes. Eventually, we were told there was a table inside by the window, but still no patio available. At no point did the front desk staff apologize or show any concern for the mix-up.
The waterfront location is beautiful, but the customer service at the front desk was very poor and left me feeling unvalued as a guest. I was with my parents, otherwise I would have left. A simple apology and better communication would have gone a long way

Despite the restaurant’s enviable setting and appealing views, the culinary execution left much to be desired. The steaks, which should be the centerpiece of the menu, arrived with notable inconsistencies: cuts varied in size, thickness was uneven, and doneness leaned heavily toward overcooked, with charred surfaces that obscured any natural flavor of the meat. Service, while attentive in inquiry, failed to follow through when concerns were raised, leaving the impression of indifference rather than hospitality. In the end, the scenery outshone the cuisine — an unfortunate imbalance for a venue of this caliber. Regrettably, it is difficult to recommend this establishment to discerning diners.

The quality here was underwhelming. Our table ordered steaks, but every plate was disappointing — the cuts weren’t consistent, the thickness was uneven, and they were all overcooked with charred tops. When the server asked how things were, we shared our concerns, but that was the end of it — no effort to make things right. Other than the nice view, the overall experience was lackluster. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend dining here.

The location and atmosphere of this restaurant are absolutely deserving of a five-star rating. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the lofty expectations set by that beautiful setting. I decided to treat my family, particularly my niece who loves seafood, so we ordered a couple of appetizers to start. Thank goodness we did, or we all would have left feeling hungry.
I shared the seafood tower with my niece, which was meant to serve two, but it barely felt substantial enough for one. When I think of a tower, I picture something grand, but this was more akin to a small plate filled with shaved ice. Our platter included three oysters, two shrimp, five tiny mussels, three small crab legs, half of a small lobster tail cut in half, and a tiny cup of tuna poké.
When I inquired about ordering extra crab legs, the waitress informed me that it would cost $65—basically the same price as the entire tower! It was a bit disheartening.
While I likely won’t return, I do think this place has potential, especially with its lovely waterfront view. If you decide to check it out, I’d recommend sticking with a drink and one appetizer, and just soaking in the scenery, as that was the highlight of the experience.

If you find yourself wandering around the beautiful waterfront of Rocky Point Park, this spot is a great place to stop and refuel. Located right beside the shore, the restaurant offers a front-row seat to the park’s scenic views — think calm waters, salty air, and the occasional kayaker gliding past. Inside, the space is bright, airy, and immaculately clean, with enough room to accommodate families, groups of friends, or anyone looking to relax after a stroll.
We started with kids’ meals: a grilled cheese sandwich and fish & chips. The grilled cheese was golden and crisp on the outside, with perfectly melted cheese inside — simple, satisfying, and exactly what you’d hope for. The kids’ fish & chips came in a child-friendly portion but still had that same crunchy, golden batter and tender, flaky fish.
For the grown-ups, we went for the lunch sets. The fish & chips lunch carried the same freshly fried perfection as the kids’ version, served with a generous pile of fries that were crisp on the outside and soft inside. The lobster & shrimp rolls were a standout — fresh seafood, lightly dressed, tucked into buttery, toasted rolls that were just the right amount of indulgent.
Every dish arrived hot, fresh, and generously portioned, with enough fries to share around the table. Pair that with the casual, friendly service and the unbeatable location, and you’ve got yourself a solid lunch spot that’s perfect after a walk through the park or before an afternoon on the pier. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s worth popping in for the views, the atmosphere, and a plate of fries by the water.

For years we've enjoyed The Boathouse in New Westminster.
Set this year we found the Port Moody location much better!
This is my third visit here and I figured that it's time to write a review!
We always have seafood, we've enjoyed the fresh oysters, this time around we had the muscles and lobster roll...
We've never been disappointed!

Boathouse Restaurant
Made reservations at the Boathouse Restaurant at Rocky Point for lunch with family visiting from out of town. Was very disappointed with my meal. I will say the restaurant area was very clean and the views were amazing.
However I asked for a chicken breast with my salad and received a frozen, not fresh piece of chicken. It was rubber! They grilled it so it looked like a fresh chicken breast but it was not (wish the menu had of stated that). Asked for a coffee after lunch and they served me a coffee that was made the hour before so it too was nasty. They did make a fresh pot of coffee that they then served us.
When the server brought the credit card machine for payment it defaults to the lowest tip level at 18%. Yes the severs don’t set the percentage amounts but that’s a turnoff. With the cost of everything these days 18% is a lot, why not start it at 15% for clients? You can push ‘other’ but then it goes from percentage to dollar, what da?
All in all if you’re looking for an okay meal at high prices then go to the Boathouse, if not go to a Cactus Club and then drive to Rocky Point for the views.
