It's our go-to Chinese Food Restaurant, never had a bad experience here!

Called for a pick up order and couldn't understand what the woman said and the phone was left on the counter. I called back and I still could barely understand the woman. She started freaking out that it was busy and didn't want to take my order and wanted me to order online. At least I think thats what she said. Her English is terrible. I won't be going back if they are going to hire people that are rude and refuse to do their job because its busy.

New go-to Chinese spot! Got the wonton soup and chicken chow mein, fresh ingredients and doesn’t have that heavy oily feel to it. Highly recommend!

Plenty of parking, and good service. Customer service has been kind and prompt every time I go to this restaurant. I'm not a fan of their food, I don't order food here. My food rating is for their brown sugar bubble tea. The cost and size is very nice. There's always been a lot of flavor in my bubble tea and it is made consistent every time I've ordered it. Can't vouch for the food, but the bubble tea is a must try

I really love good chef & have been dining and ordering from there fairly consistently since September when I discovered it.
The food has always been great, however the last time I ordered and spent around $65, the food was not good at all, very bland and the vegetables were soggy to put it nicely. Essentially it was very much different from the usual good food I get from here and it was very telling.
I know restaurants have their good and bad days and this is the first bad experience I had with them, however their mediation attempts was very poor.
I was offered 10% compensation, on my next order, I’m easily able to get 10% off whatever meal from them if I just ordered online for takeout. I was willing to drop off the food as nobody ate it at all but it’s not even worth it anymore.
Restaurants need to take initiatives on customer retention. I really really love good chef & I’ve recommended over 10 different customers to them for both dining in and takeouts. Their food is really nice when they make it well and is very much worth a try. However, this poor experience has made me officially sign out from them, which is unfortunate because PG is a small town and it’s hard having something good here.

I placed a delivery order, shortly after they opened (and, thus, well before the lunch rush) and was told it would take about 45 minutes. After over an hour, there was still no sign of my food, so I called the restaurant. After a long pause, I was told that the order was "ready to go" and that the driver would be leaving "right away." After nearly half an hour (for a drive that I have done myself and know takes 5-10 minutes), the order finally arrived. After the order took twice as long as it was supposed to, the driver didn't even bother to apologize. And, not surprisingly, the food was kind of lukewarm. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars, instead of 1, is that the food was fairly good (once I reheated it, a bit, that is). Obviously, I won't be ordering from Good Chef, again.

Good chef, good food but bad service, was totally felt unwelcome when I came in to dine on my lunch break, I was the only customer in there, no waitress around and no sign that says wait to be seated, menus at tables already I sat myself down and moments later waitress came out and got mad at me for seating myself so I got up and left, I’ll go elsewhere for Chinese food for now on

The service was 5 stars. Couldn't be better.

A restaurant's bathroom is as clean as it's kitchen. The bathroom was impeccable. 5 stars for cleanliness. And no digestive issues later that evening.

Instead of sweet and sour pork, we received sliced schnitzel with a ketchup base "sauce". The almond chicken was really good but did not come with a citrus sauce - or any sauce. We had to use the plumb sauce packages from the condiment holder. Chicken Chow Mein was simple but I really liked it as it reminded me of Chow Mein I used to eat at my friend's restaurant. The Chop Suey was really good. I'm going to assume they ran out of sweet and sour sauce and had to make their own. We didn't eat the sweet and sour pork and we didn't take it home. Leftovers the next day were tasty.

Subject: Concern Regarding Decline in Service and Quality at Good Chef

Dear Good Chef Management,

I have been a loyal customer for several years, but unfortunately, over the past year, the quality of both the food and service has significantly declined. After much consideration, I’ve changed my review from 5 stars to 1, and I regret to inform you that I will no longer be recommending or supporting your restaurant.

Several issues have contributed to this decision:

Food Quality:

The honey garlic pork is dry and lacks the typical sauce, with only a negligible amount present.
The chow mein portion in the combo is very small.
The deep-fried shrimp is unseasoned, soggy, and no longer comes with the sweet and sour dipping sauce or lemon wedges, which were previously included.
The beef chop suey is served without any sauce, leaving the vegetables dry, although the beef portion is adequate.
The bubble tea has been consistently flavorless, and despite paying for extra pearls or jellies, the portions are minimal and often not provided.
On multiple occasions, California rolls have been served with extra wasabi, despite requests for no wasabi, which compromises the meal.

Order Accuracy and Fulfillment:

There have been multiple instances of incomplete orders, especially when ordering both Chinese and Japanese dishes. Even after confirming the entire order, we’ve only received the Chinese portion, with items like lemon sauce missing, despite having been paid for.
This has led us to stop ordering Japanese items altogether, as they frequently go missing or are incorrect.

Customer Service:

I have been ordering through your website (which, as per your previous response, is linked to Skip) to maintain a written record of my orders due to frequent errors in previous orders.
Unfortunately, there has been no effort to address or rectify these issues. I’ve never been offered a refund, credit, or even an apology for missing or incorrect items.
When raising these concerns, the responses have been dismissive, and suggested solutions have been followed through with no action.
The decline in service and food quality is deeply disappointing, as I have been a regular customer for years. I sincerely hope that you will take these concerns seriously and make improvements to restore the experience I once enjoyed at Good Chef.

Updated 2024.11.15. The Good Chef was highest rated on Tripadvisor for Chinese cuisine, so I decided to come here to check it out. Came on a Friday at noon, the place was very quiet, we were their first customers.

I ordered gyozas, bean curd rolls, siu mai, chicken feet, steamed chicken in lotus wrap, black dragon roll, Tsing Tao beer. Dim sum is available from 11:00-15:00. The food was very good. Free WiFi, credit cards accepted. The washroom was nicely done and spacious.
