Ordered pick up - the appetizer spring rolls for 2 was delicious! Especially the salad rolls. Won ton soup equally as good with the beef broth, I will return again to try more of the menu.
The service has gone down hill at Thanh vu significantly. We have been going since it was on 20th way back when. My husband is Celiac, I am not. I phoned an order for pick up of sweet & sour chicken over crispy noodles. I have ordered this many times. I order the main dish gluten free and explain I am not Celiac but like the noodles and if I can still get them. The main meal is always served in separate container then noodles. If you order this meal it is $25.85 and the noodles are included in that price.
When calling in my order I order I explain I would like the noodles please but main meal made gluten free. (Which I have done many times) I was talking to server and she said this is just not possible due to liability and they just can’t ring it in their system that way.
I understand there are different systems used at restaurants however I have worked at many and there usually is a work around.
When on the phone the first server then passes me to a different server who again explains to me about liabilities. (Maybe the gluten police?) However she does offer me the option of ordering a side of crispy noodles for $5.95. (Which I already paid for in the meal but am just not aloud to have) if I pay for the side extra I can have it, just not the ones I already will be paying for. When does common sense just come into play? I have served for years. If the system doesn’t allow it, then ring in the side but zero out the cost and write a note. Nope, no customer service; no options just repetitively telling me about liabilities? If I pay double for them the liabilities must disappear. The kicker is I probably would have tipped the $5.95 when I picked up, if either server had offered any type of option beside paying extra for something I already paid for. The food is always consistent, and really like this restaurant but just the principle of it all makes me angry 😡

The curry was so salty we couldn’t eat it. The beef pho had huge beef slices and some kind of odd processed sausage. The spring role if you call it that was small and a weird batter cut into pieces. The salad role had lettuce, noodles and three shrimp no other veggies. .
Basically the worst food we ever had in many years.

The establishment presents a clean environment. As Vancouver residents, we observed a limited menu selection and we understand.

Great food, and very family friendly - great kids menu with very generous portions, and even a stool in the bathroom so kids can easily wash their hands at the sink.
Very nice and clean place. Good for date night or family dinner. Im very much love their spicy sate Pho and Hot & Sour Soup. It comes with a huge portoin which is fair enough with their price. Staff friendly and even for order togo is very fast and ontime.

Excellent food! Friendly staff.
Honest review.. felt like we were being poisoned. Microwaved onion curry with chicken as garnish. Must have dyed it with the same paint as the yellow street paint. Place was a ghost town. Don't order iced coffee if you want to drink it before you pay. Left feeling sick, and actually disturbed. Uneasy drive home.
This place is excellent. Every time I come thru PG I try and make my way down to Thanh Vu Restaurant.
Phở was fulfilling and broth tasted fantastic.
Server was very accommodating with my shellfish allergy and offered me a whole separate menu . Food was delicious and the venue very chic and chill we will def be coming back thank you taylor for your service
Going south bound is a little frustrating for accessing to get to the restaurant, but that's a city infrastructure problem. That's the singular con about Thanh Vu.
Thanh Vu Restaurant is my favorite comfort food location when I need to have fresh, hot, filling, clean eating!
It was my first Vietnamese cuisine experience at 17 years old and the owners are very family oriented and down to earth. They hire their staff so well - their servers and delivery driver (I think it's Matthew delivering currently), are wonderful, humble, and kind people. They close down the restaurant for at least 2 weeks every year in the slow season to give all staff a well deserved break and to spend time with loved ones. I believe they do a big deep clean and fix any pending maintenance issues around that time too.
I am so glad I ventured to try other menu choices last time I went. I used to get the sweet & sour chicken or tofu over crispy noodles for a long time. I have had and love the cashew dishes, their Ha Long Seafood over rice noodles, their calamari, Vietnamese spring rolls, the salad rolls, imperial rolls, their flaming deep fried banana with ice cream (well before the Rockford added this to their menu), and their vegetables are always cooked not too mushy or greasy, and not too crunchy either.
The atmosphere is so welcoming and peaceful. They keep their mural and Vietnamese culture within the design and add a little decor and change out the trim and booth seating every now and then but it's the feeling you get when you're welcome in and not rushed out the door all the time.
If I can't decide where to go, what to eat, and I'm hungry - I know I've got a place to eat well. If I feel a little under the weather, a delivery order from Thanh Vu always cheers me up.
What a wonderful gem we have by the former Four Seasons by Sheraton, now Prestige Lodge.
