Fern + Cedar Brewing Company

Pictured here are the Berry Cider, Fish n Chips, Fried Chicken Burger. We absolutely love Fern + Cedar, It was definitely busy on a Friday night, almost all tables were full including the outdoor patio. Our server was great and food came relatively fast. This is definitely one of the more upscale restaurant in the area.

We drove from relatively far with the intent to buy a good amount of beer for upcoming Christmas celebrations. Unfortunately, we made the mistake to order food. To be fair, the beer was decent, we tasted a variety. On par with most other VI breweries. The food and service however was disappointing. Low-key rude waitress, small but clearly overpriced portions, mediocre quality at best. Preprogrammed, high tipping options suggesting the place thinks of itself being something special. For what we spent on meals that were really just appies, we could have had a full meal in a better restaurant. Needless to say, we didn't buy any beer to take home, and won't be back as customers.

First time having a meal at the Fern and Cedar. They have all three most important things checked off, good food, good service, and a clean place to eat. Amazing service and great food. If I could give 10* I would! There for a company event and considering there was nine of us and the place was packed. There wasn't a long wait for our food. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. They seem to specialize in local ingredients as much as possible. Wonderful we will be back! Oh and we didn't have any pets with us but they allow pets on the heated enclosed patio. That was warm enough for our group to have our jackets off.

First time visiting tonight with a work party. The waiter was really good. The food was delicious, great serving portions, and the place was clean. The place was super busy, and this establishment still had the food out in a reasonable amount of time, the waiter came back and checked on us several times after the food was served. Really impressed, I will be back again. Thank you for such a great experience.

Drove through looking for a beer and bannock and voila… Grok told me Cedar and Fern is the place to go. Great vibe, awesome decor and service was top notch. Looking forward to trying more of their product. Shoutout to the Greemountain IPA. Great place

Went to Qualicum Beach for Moonlight Madness 🌙 great brewery, and enough room for the stroller and not too loud that my friends could sit and chat. Great vibes!

no service at all. not even slow service. we were seated and then completely ignored. more people got seated around us and served. at least 10 while we patiently sat and waited for any one of the 3 servers around us finally got up and left.

Good food, friendly service & tasty craft beer. I'll make a point of stopping in here again for sure.

We are staying on Van Isle for the summer and went to Fern & Cedar to meet our friends from Courtenay (Alison and Mark) on their recommendation. They are regulars and we can see and taste why.

We enjoyed the Moonlit and Green Mountain ales, the citrus bowl plus tofu, the shrimp and lobster lettuce wrap plus side salad and the shared Brussels sprouts (well they all did, not my thing but I had a taste: not bad! 😅).

The ambience was wonderful and seating is great inside or out. The ferns were as beautiful as advertised.

And thank you Olivia for your attentive and professional service along with your coworkers. She talked about how many are long term members of the staff and it shows.

Glad we went there!
