Very nice restaurant on the ocean and very nice and cheerful service. All the food was great. Our mussel lover thought he would have liked to have more on his plate 🙃

Good food! All you can eat fish n chips on a Saturday. They drag it out forever to get you to go basically. Awesome waitress, good fish but the turn over in the kitchen.. my opinion purposely slow.

I had the 2 pc schnitzel tonight. It was luke warm at best, no more than a quarter inch thick and tough as shoe leather. Virtually impossible to cut. Never again!! I should have complained but it's not something I'm used to doing.

Food? Tasty. View? Gorgeous. But the real star of the night was our server Devin. Funny, friendly and had us laughing the whole time. We came for dinner and stayed for the jokes. 10/10 would eat here again, mostly for the laughs... and okay, also the view.

Always a great time at the Shady. Friday music Trivia with Mike and Loraine. Happy to be there to celebrate Tom's last night, congratulations and good luck at your next adventure. I look forward to see what things the new owners bring to put their touch on this iconic Qualicum establishment.

Our first time at The Shady Rest, and we didn’t know what to expect, but it completely blew us away. The staff were amazing, and the clam chowder was the best I’ve had. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a beautiful view of the water. Can’t wait to return!

Met up with old friends who live in Qualicum Beach, and we hadn’t seen in about thirty five years, at the Shady Rest Restaurant & Pub.
Sitting waterside was awesome for us prairie dwellers! Our server was very nice and was very patient with us as we continually got sidetracked getting caught up in visiting instead of looking at the menu.
Our food was hot, fresh and delicious.
All in all a great meal, even with getting a part cup of coffee spilt on part of my lap when the table full of dishes was getting cleared off! $hit happens!
Would absolutely visit again, but maybe earlier in the day because it got dark halfway through our meal and we couldn’t see that wonderful water view any more.

Recommend keeping your group 4 or less so that you can get a waterfront table. We were lucky to have a couple frisky sea lions playing in the ocean. Everyone in our group had a different meal burger, fish n chips, salad and YUM to the lobster mac n cheese. Friendly service
