Shady Rest | Restaurant & Pub

I just wanted to say, my girlfriend invited me for Thanksgiving dinner, of which was ordered from the shady rest restaurant, and I have to tell you it was absolutely wonderful. The dinner was everything you wanted within a Thanksgiving dinner. The flavours were wonderful. I will say your pumpkin pie was just perfect.The homemade cranberry sauce was tremendous, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who prepared this meal to allow us to be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner. Thank you for all your hard work and I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. 🥰

My friend and I came for a lunch here last weekend. We had Fish & Chips (Halibut) it was delicious. Compliments to the cook and also our waitress Sadie, she was very helpful and friendly with prompt service.

This is a great casual water front restaurant.The food is surprising great and we found the service superior to other restaurants in this price range. The food and service is 5 star in a relaxed environment.

My partner and I ordered the calamari and bison burger for dinner. The bison burger was very good, but the fries were chewy and lukewarm. The calamari was also too chewy.
The serving staff were friendly, but there was some sort of water flood in the kitchen.
I think this place was better as a pub. Now its trying too hard to be fancy and kitchen staff are struggling to meet those standards.

Greedy waitress and food not worth it .
Very disappointed in food that took forever to arrive , my calamari tasted very bad the bread around it was keep falling off I couldn’t enjoy them it was gross and slimy,I never planed to write a review but after the waitress did what she did I had to… I payed with my husbands card while he was in the bathroom and he had some issues with his card and I couldn’t tap his card so I had to insert it and it didn’t gave me an option to tip , when my husband came back form the bathroom the waitress came to my husband saying “how was my service because I didn’t get a tip “??? … first of all we are not obliged to tip you second why you embarrassing my husband In front of our family while I was not there when I was the one paying not him ?third to answer you about your service it was horrible because you clearly are there just for tips . Hopefully you can learn to not be so greedy and care about your service .

The cheese bread has savory spice which reminded me of turkey dressing. It was very delicious as was the Seafood Sheppards Pie. Our server was Kelly and she made our experience that much more enjoyable. Very perky and fun. Recommended a vinegarette dressing that was to die for. Right on the water for that beach experience. New owners and new chef.

3 people in our party had clam chowder soup, 5-6 small clams and some cream that’s it!! Maybe the cooks could look on line or find a recipe book? Fish and chips were fine , and got 4 tiny oysters for 17 dollars , really!! The view is good

Amazing food with an even better view! The drinks were excellent, and the patio overlooking the ocean made it even more perfect. Honestly, I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house—even inside has stunning views. Easily a 10/10, and I’ll definitely be back.

Historic pub right on the water in Qualicum Beach. The restaurant was recently sold and the new owners are updating and renovating, plus the menu has been changed and greatly improved.

Very enjoyable Monday night out; as a bonus it was 15% off for seniors. Tough to beat the waterfront view. I had the Meat’za pizza (could easily feed 2 people). My wife had the beef dip (delicious). Outstanding service from our server Nadine !! It was very busy and she managed to coordinate everything flawlessly, with a smile.

We went for dinner Aug 6 and sat at table 113. We were grateful for amazing service and a great view. However, the food took over an hour to arrive and wasn’t worth the wait. My salt and pepper wings had almost no seasoning on them. The steak sandwich was good but the fries were inedible. We suggested the waitress and chef try the fries. Go for a drink, avoid the food. We won’t be back.
