I’ve come to banh mi tres bon quite a few times. Unfortunately the experience of the last visit marked the lowest in all. We came in at an odd time of the day, 3-4pm, for a late lunch. We ordered chicken banh mi, pork salad roll, pomelo salad, and a flight of cocktails. Cocktails flight was advertised on a menu on the table without price. We originally wanted to try only one, after were explained that it’s a flight of 3 small glasses of cocktails, we decided to try. The pomelo salad came first. The dish looked fresh but not a lot in quantity. The pomelo was pale white and not pink like in the picture of the menu. The fruit was not sweet but fresh. The salad is mostly the pomelo skin shredded in thin pieces with a bitter taste. Overall the dish tasted rather bland and uninteresting. We finished very fast because we were a bit hungry. The cocktails came next. We found the cocktails overall tasted overly sweet and too heavy. For example, the Rice wine soho lychee & crème de cassis for sure has too much layers of sweetness, there is the rice wine, the lychee, and the blackcurrant crème de cassis liquor. We felt that it’s not a good cocktail because each ingredient overpowers each other too much. And the Plum wine rambutan juice & ginger tasted like sweetened ginger wine, and no trace of the expected zesty rambutan juice. And Hpnotic & coconut liqueur just didn’t speak to us. All of them seem to have the problem that if you mix some equally strong fruit liquor with a traditional liquor, and the sweetness from the fruit liquor brought out too much of ethanol, aka alcohol taste, overpowering everything else in the drink. And lastly the lemon grass chicken banh mi that I was so looking forward had very little chicken in it. The bill totalled $70+ excluding tips because the cocktails flight was $25, on the expensive side for a tasting flight I think. Oh and there were some very persistent flies at our table that really made the experience worse.
Extremely overpriced with terrible parking access. $16 per banh mi is ridiculously expensive. Literally quite shocking.
Food, service and atmosphere is awesome. We always have a good meal there and the staff are super friendly.
The staff was very friendly, the banh mi was delicious and so was the pho. The place had a lovely decor, and a family-owned vibe. Highly recommended as a stop between the airport and the ferry terminal.
Lovely atmosphere and great food for lunch
Good consistent restaurant. I appreciate they use free range chicken and high quality meats.
First time here with my wife and food was amazing. Service is amazing. The decor, music, and ambience makes me frel like im in Hoi An, Vietnam. The individual crepe balls in the stone pot was so so good. The papaya salad is the best ive eaten (they make their own jerky! 😋). The little banh mi was packed with meat and tasty. Very thoughtful of them to have a diaper changing station in their washroom. The detail they put into this establishment is 👌. Definitely bringing my teenage girls here next time.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bánh Mì Très Bon in Richmond, and while they truly shine with some of their dishes, there were a few areas where they fell a bit short for me. The banh cuon, fried rolls, and banh mi sandwiches were absolutely delightful. The banh mi, in particular, was a highlight, with its house-made bread boasting a perfect balance of crunch and softness, complemented by the rich flavors of the meatballs and cold cuts. The fried rolls were crispy and savory, with a delightful crunch that paired beautifully with their dipping sauces. The banh cuon was another standout, with its delicate texture and well-balanced flavors making it a must-try appetizer.
However, I was a bit disappointed with the coffee and pho. As someone who loves a strong cup of coffee, I found theirs to be lacking in intensity and richness. Similarly, the pho broth, while clear and smooth, didn’t quite have the depth of flavor I’ve come to expect from a great bowl of pho. It was missing that robust, savory punch that makes pho so memorable.
Overall, my experience at Bánh Mì Très Bon was enjoyable, especially with their exceptional banh mi, banh cuon, and fried rolls. I’ll be back for more!
A class above other Vietnamese restaurants without the fancy price.
I honestly have no idea why the reviews are not as high as it should be for this place. Having tried 20+ top rated Vietnamese places in Metro Vancouver by now, this is by far my favourite place for pho, because they’re the only place that serves my favourite beef pho with bone marrow, with complex flavour and just the right balance of the ingredients. I often find pho broths can be very oily or overly sweet - this was neither. As someone who isn’t normally a fan of pho (pho is the bottom of my list for noodles), Banh Mi Tres Bon changed my mind about what comfort food is.
I also like their banh mi’s, salad rolls, and people I’ve brought also like their other pho options too.
Despite sounding sponsored (which I’m not), I decided to post this after being baffled by some of the negative reviews and felt like I needed to give my voice. Anyway, 10/10 would recommend this place 😍

The sandwich was really great, making my first experience of the Banmi sandwich special with unique moisturizing meatball. The atmosphere and mood of the restaurant were really nice and photo-worthy. Also, the staff were very nice too. They tried to put the curtains down for preventing the sunlights for me and gave me very kind attitudes.
Nice foods!
Yummy and delicious as per usual! Not the cheapest but made with good quality ingredients! I’ve been a customer since they opened!
This is a cute little Vietnamese restaurant tucked right inside the mall on Garden City and Alderbridge (where the Walmart is). It is definitely different from other pho restaurant in Richmond/Vancouver. It's like a boutique store modern decors. You order what you want first at the counter, and they will give you a number and bring you the food after. Their pho is priced higher ($11) in comparison to other places. The broth is flavorful and not greasy, and it also comes with bone marrow! The mini crepe is also very delicious. They also have a macaron counter there too, so you can grab some on your way out! Overall, the service is great. Food is delicious but not a huge selection. I would say this is a great place for a date night or meet up with friends!
What a lovely little eatery. Had some great food and the afternoon drizzle just disappeared as we ate crispy Bahn Mi and a delicious pomelo salad with other trimmings and a fabulous time we had too. Will come again with kids for their gluten free options! Great Euro fusion decor to add to the ambiance. Recommended.
