BanZai Sushi House Ltd

The other day I tried their House Roll and Maki Combo A. The house roll was amazing, and the price of it was reasonable, considering that a House Roll in restaurants in Vancouver could be the same price if not even higher, and the House Roll of BanZai has definitely been one of the biggest (in terms of size) I've ever had for now. Regarding the Maki Combo A, the price was also reasonable. The service was nice, fast, although keep in mind that at BanZai as well as other restaurants in Richmond you'll need to bring cash to pay at the restaurant.

This place used to be good value and had good service. And the sushi/sashimi was reasonable priced. Now the prices are reasonable but the quality of the food is bad. It was clear to the taste that the sashimi plate was not prepared fresh. The cuts were watery, as if frozen and thawed. The tempora was cake battered. I don't believe this is Japanese owned establishment.

Affordable sushi and acceptable taste, this place offers a variety of options for any sushi lover. Although the food is not top tier, but the pricing ratio to the taste of the food meets expectations.

Service on the other hand seemed to be a bit lacking as refilling tea was so difficult to call for server as they were busy handling to-go orders. A bit more proactive service towards seated customers would definitely improve to 4 stars and justify better tips, but for now it is a mid 3.

The atmosphere was acceptable with a high 3 and could be better improved if they had ambient music playing in the background to fill the quiet awkwardness. The washroom toilet was in a state which needed repairs as it had trouble flushing. If these points are taken into account and improved, it would go to a high 4.

Overall, a pleasant experience and their takeout offers additional discount on how many hours prior notice.

Those who have known about this place know that the sizes have shrunk over the years. It's still competitively priced for the portion but the quality has been so bad lately. The tuna absolutely stinks even though they serve it still frozen. The toro stinks eben more. There's unpleasant tough sinewy bits in the fish too. Sad times. Surprisingly they have good service though. Cash only.

I would say it's on par with samurai style sushi. Prices are good and you’re getting your value. Service is definitely very friendly.

I would come back again if I'm in the area. I think it’s pretty decent here. I got the negitoro, salmon nigiri, and ikura nigiri.
I would love to come back for take out and try other items!

Now it's shrinkanomics, and it seems that the sushi rice has changed.

Decent Sushi, not the best of course but for me it’s nostalgic they have some of the biggest rolls i just love how big those rolls are 😂
