The Chef's Playground Eatery

We won’t be going anywhere else from now on other than Gordon’s Chef’s Playground in Steveston. It’s been a very very long time since I’ve had such a wonderful dining experience. Quality and value for the money was excellent. Thank you Gordon, Agatha ( sorry I forgot the other waitress’s name but she was great) for a memorable evening.

I stopped here for a quick lunch, BEST THING IVE EATEN IN A LONG TIME!
If your in the area come here for food, the burger patties are made here, they make their own sauce, all just tastes incredible.
This is a proper restaurant, not enough make food from scratch anymore, this has to be one of the few left.
Had a cola with my meal, also they make this too, it's not a store brought brand.
Really it needs more then 5 stars.

Had the Lavender lemonade and the teriyaki samurai burger. Both were fantastic!

The ketchup, hamburger pattie and drinks are all made in house. Wonderful fresh flavours

Love their drink menu! There are lots of fun options both alcoholic and nonalcoholic! We had spiked mango boba and milk shake and they were yummy. Food was very decent with generous serving size.

Great little hidden treasure right in Steveston village. Excellent atmosphere and the service is fast and friendly. Ordered the really tasty, King mushroom burger, and the nice crunchy fries. Has some limited street parking right out front. Come try it, you’ll be back. Back again, had the brisket Benedict, great…

Made a reservation for Mothers Day for 11:45am. Received a text msg to confirm the reservation and got a text back that it was confirmed. The day before I got a call that we would only have 90mins for the reservation and that we could only order for the brunch menu. The day of I was running a few mins late trying to find parking but received a text message at 11:42am that my reservation had been cancelled. I then received a call from my mother who was already at the restaurant saying we weren’t in the system anymore and that I had cancelled the reservation myself. They said that they could still see us but we would have to leave by 12:50 as they needed the table for the next reservation. When I spoke to them they couldn’t give me an explanation. Clearly they have an issue with their booking system because I don’t understand how another table could be already booked at that time if I had 90mins to begin with. If the reservation was cancelled 3 mins before that time slot there should not be another reservation already overlapping. I was very disappointed in this experience as we felt rushed and it was Mothers Day.

Small restaurant with a bit of a wait due to only 2 staff - service was very friendly though.
Had the Loaded Cheesy Burger with Salad, and tried the Truffle Shrooms Burger. Both burgers were solid enough.

The sub salad seems to be the same as their house salad that can be ordered individually. With the fruit and dressing, I felt it was a little sweet - pretty good for that amount but maybe overwhelming if getting the full order.

They also make their own ketchup, which is definitely yummy but again quite sweet. Can easily balance that out with some pepper and their hot sauce selection though!

Walking around Steveston when we came by this place and saw how interesting the menu was so we tried it and it did not disappoint.
The food was freshly cooked, we were able to adjust the condiments accordingly yet the food tasted great. The fried chicken was very juicy and the burger was massive. We could barely finish the fries as we were too full, but the price was reasonable for the amount of food that you get.
They have a great selection and multiple menu to choose from. They even have ribeye deals on certain days.
The server was very nice and accomodating. The place was cozy, not too big but not cramped either. Highly recommend and will definitely come back again.

Had the steak and eggs. Everything was very good, steak was cooked to what's requested. Only I server working so server was very busy hence service was a bit slow very understandable. Very nice size piece of steak but would rather have a smaller size but better cut of meat, just my suggestion.

What a calm and relaxing atmosphere here on a Saturday afternoon. It feels like a small seaside town with a lot of diverse options on eatery! Lots of street parking and paid parking lots and garages as well. Definitely a walkable area to spend a whole lunch and afternoon.
I stopped by this place since it was just after the lunch rush and there wasnt anyone inside on this cold and rainy day. But I saw they have RAVE reviews and the pictures of the food look amazing! The head chef built this whole indoor space himself! Down to the bench that

They also have SATURDAY Happy Hours!!
I ordered 2 happy hour items (triple garlic fries + oyster chowder), their blueberry lemonade, and a bbq burger.
The BBQ burger is one of the BEST I've ever had! And I'm from the US where we ARE burgers lol

Such a cute lil spot! Plenty of paid and street parking around on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I'd love to come back here whenever I'm back in town

The service was attentive and excellent and the portion size of most dishes were large, but the quality of food was very average. Burgers were the best offering with creative toppings and a generous amount of fries/onion rings, but the soups were thin and salty, garlic bread was thick and undertoasted, and the chopped chicken salad was mediocre - the chicken was hot and crispy, but couldn't displace the disappointment of paying $4.5 for a sparse littering of small avocado cubes. Might come again for just a burger in the future!

Fast service, excellent presentation, tasty food. Amazing to watch the only chef working so efficient! Prices are surprisingly fair for such a location.
