Our regular birthday cake go to bakery unfortunately closed so I searched for another that had good reviews on a Black Forest cake... Diplomat popped up and was close to work, a definite plus. Ordered one over the phone for the next day, which they were able to do! a plus plus😅 So without knowing what to expect other than the good reviews the friendly lady working the counter handed me the cake and my first thought was, WOW this weighs a tonne!! It was their smallest cake at 7 inches for 8-10 slices. I was now anticipating what it tasted like and when we did... WOW!! a very decadent interpretation of a classic. One of the layers was silky chocolate mousse laced with brandied cherries along with dark moist cake layers and fresh whipped cream then finished nicely with dark cherry halves on the top. It was DEVINE. A big thank you to Diplomat Bakery and it's very capable bakers, can't wait to try their other vast offerings in the future. They may be a little out of the way for some but well worth the effort getting there so don't hesitate, it'll be well worth it!!!

Small little bakery in size, but plenty of delicious options on-site. If you're ever craving some sweet treats in the south Richmond area, Diplomat Bakery will never disappoint. Their pastry selection is vast, and everything looks and tastes good (I've also seen people pre-order whole cakes before).

Inside seating can be a little challenging if you have a large group. But they do have tables and chairs for outside seating as well. Service is usually quick, and the facilities are always clean.

I picked up their triple-layer chocolate mousse cake for my husband’s birthday, and it was incredible. We enjoyed every bit of it. Diplomat Bakery just earned a permanent spot as my go-to place for birthday cakes.

Great place. Pastries are amazing! Lots of selection. Friendly staff AND I like how they don't prompt you for a tip when you pay. Kudos!

Diplomat Bakery in Richmond, BC, receives generally positive reviews, particularly for its cakes and coffee. Customers praise the delicious and moist cakes, with the hazelnut chocolate and triple chocolate cakes being highlighted as favorites. The bakery is also known for its tiramisu and other pastry items. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The bakery is a popular spot, especially among cyclists and those enjoying walks along the riverfront.

The bakery also offers a variety of other items, including sandwiches, muffins, cookies, and wraps, with some of my family members and friends mentioning the sausage rolls and other baked goods are delicious.

The bakery can get very busy, and the interior layout can make it difficult to browse the food, especially when there is a long line.

Some customers feel that the prices are a bit high, but many feel that the quality of the food justifies the cost, including myself.

Our favourite bakery in Richmond. Their cakes are outstanding. Their pies are out of this world. Especially the apple pie. Coffee is excellent. Never miss a chance to stop by when we are in Richmond

One of the good cake shops in Steveston. Went here to buy some cake to celebrate a friend's birthday and was met with a broad selection of flavours.

We ate outside to enjoy the cooler breeze and this place definitely has a good atmosphere. Cake was delicious and service is pretty standard considering it's more of a coffee shop vibe.

If I'm ever thinking of good cakes, this is my go-to place in Richmond.

A lovely and traditional bakery in a tranquil neighbourhood serving great coffee and cakes! Especially recommending the lemon tart with a crisp, buttery pastry crust filled with silky-smooth lemon curd. It’s perfectly balanced between tangy and sweet, with a bright citrus flavor that lingers on your palate!

Espresso chocolate cake was amaaaazing. All the people at the party liked it. Staff was so helpful with me picking a cake with no gelatin and alcohol. They have a seating area to drink hot beverages and baked stuff. Highly recommend this place. Location near the sea so it is the best option to take a coffee and have a walk in the area.

Everything from cake to donuts was delicious! Service could've been a bit more open and warm, will definitely be back!
