I’ve lived in Richmond for many years and have always driven past this restaurant, but never visited until tonight. We finally decided to give it a try, and unfortunately we left disappointed.
The complimentary bread was cold, dry, and airy — it honestly felt like biting into a sponge. One of the butters had completely melted, so it was impossible to spread. Then the calamari arrived, and it tasted like something you’d air-fry at home: mostly batter with barely any squid.
Next was the Calzone Italiano. The first bite was fine, but once we got to the center, I bit into a very fleshy texture. When I pulled it out of my mouth, I realized the pork sausage was undercooked and still raw. My partner’s bite was cold and the cheese inside hadn’t even melted. I brought it to the server’s attention and she showed it to the manager, who offered to make a new one — which we accepted — but by then I had already lost my appetite.
The Fettuccine alla Vodka was probably the most passable dish of the evening; it actually tasted okay, to be fair. When we finished and asked for the bill, I was hoping they might offer some kind of gesture for the experience, like a discount or a dessert, but there was nothing. The manager didn’t even offer an apology.
I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Food is like Spagethetti Factory, oily and burned. 20 Dollar for small pasta? OMG No, if no protain on plate 20 $ is not reasonable OMG dont waste you money here and go T&T Foodmarket taste better and is much cheaper.

Had the white wine sauce linguine for takeout over last summer. Brought it home and it was so bitter. The white wine wasn’t reduced properly and it had a very bitter lingering taste on our families tongue. It was inedible. I called about it asap, they offered to swap it out the next day (I bought it 1 hour before closing). After bringing it back and swapping it, the manager (old man with glasses) was super rude and asked why did I return it. I told him it was the most bitter thing I had in my life. It has a harsh alcoholic lingering taste that can be felt for an hour after eating it. The manager doubled down saying that is normal and won’t fault anything wrong. I was stunned on his response. Been ordering take out here for 15+ years and his customer service alone would make me think otherwise.

I’ve been coming to Italian Tomato in Richmond for years, and it continues to be one of my favourite spots for comforting, satisfying pasta. The portions are huge—truly some of the most generous you’ll find anywhere—so you always leave full and happy, often with leftovers for the next day.
My go-to pastas are the Bosciola, Verona, and the Pesto. The Bosciola is rich and creamy with earthy mushrooms and a savoury depth that keeps you coming back for another bite. The Verona has this beautiful balance of tomato and cream, with a flavour that feels both hearty and bright at the same time. And the pesto is incredibly aromatic—fresh, herbaceous, and full of that classic basil-garlic punch that coats every noodle perfectly.
After so many years of visiting, the consistency and flavour never disappoint. It’s a reliable, comforting favourite and easily one of the best pasta spots in Richmond.

Visited Italian Tomato in Richmond in mid-November. This place has been around for almost 20 years and is similar to Anton's in Burnaby as they both serve huge portions of pasta and you pick your pasta and your sauce giving you an almost endless selection to choose from.
We had the Meat Lasagna ($31 full size) and the Napoletana Linguine ($32 full size) with baby shrimp, baby clams, garlic, lemon zest in white wine cream sauce. And why wouldn't you get the full size when it's just a couple extra bucks? Seriously a huge portion. The pasta itself was pretty good and we had leftovers for days.
Also had the Insalata di Cesare ($25) which had a nice creamy sauce. Meanwhile, I thought the Garlic Cheese Bread, while quite large, wasn't cheesy enough and lacked some crisp texture to the bread.
I wouldn't necessarily say it was the best pasta I've had but it was fun trying to pack in all those carbs. Service was a bit hit or miss depending on which server was helping us.
Finished off the meal with the Triple Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream. If you remember the brownie sundae that the Keg used to serve, it's a little bit like that. But it would have been better with some whipped cream.
So if you like big carby portions, this won't disappoint.

Amazing restaurant just minutes away from Vancouver Airport. The server was extremely attentive and prompt, the food was absolutely amazing, and the portions were huge! Highly recommend, especially if you love Italian food like I do.

Very delicious pasta and very large portions. It is really good value for the price and there are many different choices for customizing pasta and sauce. Friendly atmosphere.
