My family moved to Richmond in 2000. It was a tough transition but to be fair to them, Winnipeg isn't the greatest place to spend your days so looking back now, I understand the decision.Other than my friends and family, one of the things I missed the most was this italian restaurant that always made my day whenever my family took me there.It took a few years but when the owners of the Italian Tomato decided to build an Italian restaurant in Richmond, I was willing to give them a shot.I remember my first experience like it was yesterday. I didn't know what to expect but I knew I had some negative bias towards the establishment believing it wouldn't compare to my favorite Italian restaurant in Winnipeg.I was wrong. So very wrong.My mother tells the story of how she saw my eyes light up the first time I tried their pasta. I was just a young buck then. Her and I both knew at that point that I had found my new home. My father was too busy enjoying his lasagna. My brother, his milk bottle.Its been roughly 15+ years of positive experiences at this establishment.I didn't think I would ever write a review on this place. I didn't think I'd need to.. but after seeing some of the reviews on here I knew I had to speak up.Someone mentioned it was expensive.. what are they eating? Canned food at the dollar store? Where else can you get a huge plate of pasta for $25ish that works out to 2-3 meals that actually tastes good?Someone mentioned the service isn't that greatest.. I'm a firm believer that servers will treat you with the same energy you give them. Maybe look in the mirror?Someone mentioned the food was cold? My food has always come out hot.. I don't know.. eat faster?There's a reason this place has been open this long. Most restaurants fail in 2 years. That alone should tell you that there is a magic here that can't be ignored.Do yourselves a favor. Enjoy the food, enjoy the service, go home and watch a movie on Netflix, then when you wake up from your food coma, enjoy the leftovers.

I got there very early so I was the only one in the restaurant at the time. It’s your typical old style Italian restaurant decor. My waiter was amazing nice young man full of energy and Very helpful as their menu is huge. I decided I would try the homemade lasagna. It was good but not very hot and as I got about halfway through it, it was cold. I was going to send it back for a reheat but I was getting kinda full anyways and wanted to get out of there. Over all My lasagna was good and the portion size was huge could’ve been a lot hotter but the beer was nice and cold. I would give it a second try. I’ve had a lot worse for a lot more.

This place is literally a Richmond version of Antons. And I will never not take that back because it is true. And it is something I like about it is that there will forever be seating and that they will always be willing to get you a box at the end of the night for your pasta.I always come here with some friends for a decent pasta night with friends. And for the amount of pasta they give you, for sure you can not finish the whole plate. I am always satisfied with eating here.The service here is just enough to have a good night and on top of that their little decor is like minimal but they are trying to keep the whole Italian vibe to their aesthetic. Sometimes their tables can be a little wobbly but who cares. You're here to eat, and then walk off with a box of pasta at the end of the night.Cute.

Canada ?? If you love amasing top best pasta dinners then the Italian Tomato Restaurant is were you Bring your Wife or family even a dinner to close the the Biggest deal you have ever had.Let me make this cristal clear I do not know the owner of Italian tomato Restaurant. Also, I do not know the staff. I found this out of sheer luck after checking into a hotel in the area just know the white sauce with prawns with your choice of pasta. The Casino is close to this absulootly delicious Italian restaurant I have eaten at in 20 years. Truly, I wish I lived near this restaurant but that's OK I will have a truly wonderful place for dinnerThank you to the owner of Italian tomato Restaurant as you read I am blown away how good the foods are I experienced well in Vancouver B.C. Canada

We walked here from our hotel at river rock. It was no problem getting a reservation for the 5 of us, same day as calling. We had to wait a few minutes for our table which was fine. But then waited for 20 minutes to get someone to take our drink order (the server did drop off glasses of water at about the 15 minute mark but didn't stick around to take our drink order at that time). Just be prepared to take your time as the service is quite slow. The server was friendly but not very personable.We were served bread shortly after ordering. It was just fresh white bread, nothing special.We all ordered the Gnocchi with various toppings.I'm not sure if it was because we ordered Gnocchi, but our food was served very quickly!! And as stated before, the serving is generous.I ordered the Verona. I thought my meal was just OK. I've had better Gnocchi, and the sauce wasn't very flavourful. I wouldn't order it again but I would return to try something else if we were back at that hotel in the future.
