J&G Fried Chicken

We got combo #3 with the chicken heart and fried oyster mushrooms, but both lacked flavour. It was also greasy - oozing oil after every bite. The only positive experience was that the chicken was tender on the inside. I would not recommend this place unfortunately.

This is the very first time, I have had J&G at this location and I would definitely come back! When I arrived there was a huge crowd waiting for their orders! Although i had to wait a while to get my order in, I was greeted very warmly by the gentlemen behind the counter who apologized for the long wait. I had order 2 of my favourite snacks that I always ordered in Taiwan, my order arrived under the given estimated wait times and my food turned out pefectly, with just the right amount of seasoning to my liking.

For those who complain about wait times, keep in mind food do require time to cook, and if you can't understand that you can goto a fast food restaurant.

Edit: visited this location once again to see find out that my experience was still the same, foor served under estimated time, great tasty food!

J & G Fried Chicken in Aberdeen Centre’s food court offers a fantastic Taiwanese street food experience. The popcorn chicken is crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, while the squid balls are tender with a great texture. Their deep-fried king oyster mushrooms are a surprising standout—crispy on the outside, juicy, and full of rich umami flavor. The portions are generous, and the food is freshly fried to order. As they all say, "Don't judge a book by its cover."

Its extremely dark-colored fried chicken is not as bad as it looks. Others brag about their 100-year-old Braised or Brine Water 鹵水汁; J&G can brag about their 100-year-old lard 豬油 ? To cut costs, they probably don't replace their lard as often, or they don't use healthier or lighter oil. Otherwise, their chicken color should not look like sh-t ? like they do now. If you can look past its color, their chicken is actually pretty delicious. It looks very dry on the outside but is actually quite moist on the inside.

- They don't use white meat, again, probably to cut costs. Their 6-piece chicken that costs $15.75 almost always comes with 4 fair size drumsticks and 2 thighs. We actually prefer this combination.

- the ladies speak Mandarin only. Talk to the guy. He speaks fluent English, too. ?

I tried this brand of popcorn chicken when I visited Taiwan this summer. After my first time I got it every time I saw their stores, so I was excited to see it in Aberdeen mall. The flavor is still as good as I remember, but it would be better if it was deep fried just a little longer to make it more crispy. The chicken pieces are big and juicy.

The heart-shaped cutlet and yam fries are my go-to order. They are well done and very crispy.

The server is super friendly.

Wait time is typically 10mins since they make your order on the spot, so your order will be searing hot, fresh out of the fryer.

One of my favorite comfort restaurants at the Aberdeen food court. The server speaks English and is very friendly, the food was done very quickly (~10mins). The chicken is always steaming hot, crispy, and salty/slightly spicy, very authentic. Get the combo with fried chicken, potato fries, and fried bun.

Combo set number one is the best: popcorn chicken, yam fried, fried bun with condensed milk and a soda. Consistent flavors. Good size portions. Friendly service! :)
