Mochi is terrible here. It’s frozen, and the skin is so thick you can only taste powder, filling’s suppose to be flavourful but it’s very strangely taste, like the kinds that make your tummy unwell after having a bite, we immediately felt nauseous and couldn’t feel or taste any good food afterwards.

the instructions say to let the mochicream defrost for 15 minutes but i think you need to leave it for like over an hour for the mochi to actually get soft???? either that or the choco banana ones we got were all defects. the choco banana cream was really nice because there were like little chocolate chips and that was a nice texture, the strawberry shortcake and matcha were both pretty solid and soft, but my favourite was probably the black sesame. it had the strongest, most distinct black sesame flavour and it was quite sweet but in a good way. they are pretty hefty mochis, but they are kinda expensive so i wouldn’t expect any less. they are definitely best enjoyed with a nice hot cup of tea 🙂

Can you please open up a store in Toronto?

super super good fresh Mochi, so soft mouthfeel and rich flavors. All pastry products are real from Japan (I checked with a Japanese ), and tasty.

Though it is quite pricey, those authentic Japanese sweets are absolute delights! Great for gift, also good desserts for yourself.

I like their mochi ice cream. They have a lot of flavours. A bit pricey but worth trying. You need to wait a bit more than 15minuted before eating it. It took some more time than the others. It’s a cool store, reminds me of Japan but I haven’t tried other treats.

It's a charming store with a variety of unique Japanese sweets that are hard to find elsewhere. The mochi and jellies were both delicious, though the jellies were quite pricey at $8 each. Despite the cost, I really enjoyed them!

Purchased their mochi and I did not get the fresh ones in the showcase but a frozen pack from the back, which was very misleading. Interesting flavours but too sweet. Cute store and love that they carry Royce chocolates.

Highly recommend the mochi creams. They are sold frozen but you can wait a few minutes and they're ready to eat.

The mochi skin is firm and chewy. The filling is made with real fruit/potato. I highly recommend the sweet potato filling.

I'm not someone who has a sweet tooth, so more often than not, I usually skip dessert when eating out. And I definitely do not make it a point to scout out dessert havens. So maybe that's why I never jumped onto the mochi bandwagon, even though I knew of them.I actually don't remember who let me try their mochi from J. Sweets, but the second I had it, I immediately looked up their site to see what other flavors they had available. After seeing how many different styles they had, I knew that I had to get to the store to see them for myself.Being situated in Vancouver, it is quite the trip to get into Richmond, all for these mochis. It's over an hour, which isn't exactly a short trip. But if they have all the flavors that you want, then of course it's worth it.Admittedly, I haven't eaten a lot of mochi, but I have to assume that J. Sweets makes some of the best mochi around, as everyone who I've asked about the place or where to get good mochi, has sung their praises. The mochi skin is so soft and chewy, and the fillings are rich and delicious. I've tried most of them, and they're all quite yummy in their own right. While mochi seems to be the main attraction, they do offer high end expensive chocolates and biscuits, which will really set you back if you've a mind to purchase any of them.It really is a treat to have these mochi, so I only get them once in a blue moon. I should mention though, that the last time I had gone there relatively early, I had left empty handed because they didn't have any Chocolate or Chocolate Banana Mochi, which I found odd, considering they had just opened.I do like buying the mochi as gifts every now and then. They're placed in a nice black box {which costs extra of course} but it makes a great impression as the presentation really is beautiful. If you're mad for mochi, J. Sweets is your sweet spot.
