- Great milk tea
- Hot pineapple bun but the bread is not quite at the Hong Kong level
- Very crowded, I will not want to wait too long to eat here

To locals and our visiting American friends, this place just isn’t what it used to be. These days, the real gems are the food courts in Richmond — where tipping is optional, and you won’t risk being chased down or given the side-eye for not tipping “enough” or for having to flag down a server.
At these food court spots, you’ll usually get bigger portions, better-quality food, and fresher ingredients. Thanks to the constant stream of customers and limited storage space, turnover is high — meaning less chance of being served something that's been freezer-burned or sitting around too long.
They’re also perfect for groups, since everyone can grab whatever they’re craving.
Some local favorites worth checking out:
Cha Don – Empire Centre & Yaohan
Cha Kee – Presidents Plaza
One Café – Empire Centre & Parker Place Mall
Jimmy’s Café and Keelung Taiwanese Breakfast – Admiralty Court
Kam Do – For amazing egg tarts. Try the cookie crust version!
T&T Supermarket – Great Portuguese egg tarts, and cheaper if you buy them by the pack.
Note: Aberdeen Centre leans more toward lunch and dinner options, with fewer Hong Kong–style breakfast stalls — mostly just condensed milk toast and HK-style drinks.
Pro tips: Bring Canadian cash and aim to arrive before 11:30 AM for the food courts. After that, parking gets tough and seating fills up fast. Don't be shy to ask to share tables with strangers, it's a common thing nowadays. If it’s too packed, just grab your food to go and enjoy it at a nearby park. 😊

It's a staple. Good pineapple buns, since they rotate fresh quick due to traffic.

Popular Cha Can Ting in Richmond area. HK style. Many different kinds of Chinese dishes. Best pineapple bun in Vancouver. Price a bit high though

A good place to have traditional HK style tea house food. The food and prices were fine. The table was very small to fit 4 people, and one of us accidentally spilled the hot tea drink. They also only accept cash which is very inconvenient.

CASH ONLY. Immediate minus point.
This restaurant was overall not it. Very disappointing. I have high expectations for any cantonese place in Richmond. Look at the beef noodle we received - all noodles stuck together. Duck was ok. Borsch did not have good flavor.
The pineapple bun looked disappointing - but at least it tasted good. The only item i could recommend here.

Haven't been here in ages decided to give them a shot. Was the 4th party (4) on waitlist with no other party behind. Somehow they still manage to screw up the waitlist and gave 3 other parties before me the same queue number. So everyone got confused. Ordered a beef innards noodle soup and a beef brisket/tendon noodle soup $19 each, portion is not great for the cost. Pineapple bun $3.70 (without butter) and a rice roll (plain) $13, pricing is more on the high side considering the food is nothing special. Pineapple bun is all hype taste like any other hk cafe. Will not be going back there again.

Back in the old days it has its fame. But! Only because there was not many other options. Now there’s One Cafe and Cha Don that totally beats them. Will not come to this place ever again. Very expensive food and the taste is just meeting expectations. The waitress is like your typical Karen next door like you owe them a million. Very poor service.

One of the popular classic HK breakfasts. Tried the satay beef noodle, rice roll, and egg tart. We saw so many people had the pineapple bun with butter, but we weren't feeling to order it. Egg tart was ok, satay beef noodle was good. They have many selections, including the western style menu. Inside was really busy, and I felt like back in HK. Price is definitely more expensive than other newer HK breakfast places. We may not come back here unless if we go with a big group.
