3.x Something Rating? That's so misleading! Are you coming for a Michelin star meal (Service and ambiance counts for most of the rating)? Or an amazing Shanghainese Restaurant?

If you're here for authentic food that's actually second to none you've found a Shanghainese gem. Selfishness hopes that you all don't really digest my review. They don't have that many tables and I would like to make sure mine is still available 😜

So, if you like Din Tai Fung (Shanghainese eatery started in Taiwan and the most popular Chinese restaurant chain in the world). This restaurant will put them to shame. It's not even close. Sorry DTF!

I do appreciate the masks! They wear masks when preparing and delivering my food. Their menu is also vastly expanded vs their old main street location. So what I guess what I'm saying is to enjoy their food but don't take my seat 😀

There will be a long wait unless you have reservations but really, the wait is worthwhile and the line moves quickly as there is rapid turnover and this place puts out meals very quickly. Service is very efficient all while remaining respectful and friendly. I loved all the dishes we ordered, especially the XLB & the wine (drunken) chicken. The XLB had wonderful flavour, full of savoury broth, and ultra thin and chewy skin. The chicken was very tender without an over powering wine taste…more like an essence. Much larger and cleaner than their old location but with all the same wonderful food. I would give six stars out of five if I could! It’s really off the scales here.

Don’t come here. Poorly managed and rude staff. Disgusting food. Overhyped. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had and I had low expectations to begin with. What does that tell you?

We like it here. Food is consistently good here. All of the dumplings and baos are great! Skin on the XLB is so thin you can see through it. They are all so tasty and so juicy. Staff are very friendly, love talking to them. Prices are very reasonable as well! No complaints here. Remember to register your vehicle when you arrive. Make sure to call in ahead to reserve a table as seating is limited. Would recommend trying them out!

We started going to Long’s 30 years ago at its old location in Vancouver. It has always been my most favorite Shanghainese restaurant in Canada. This is the first time we visited in a few years because the owner Sandy took a break and just reopened up in New Garden Road. Nothing is changed. Everything was excellent, Steamed Dumplings with Soup, Fried Dumpling, Chicken and Won Ton Soup, Egg Yolk Deep Fried Rice Crispies, and we ended the dinner with a magnificent Eight Treasure Sticky Rice. Sandy and her staff were very friendly and efficient. Most enjoyable dinner. I’ll definitely come back when I come to Vancouver again.

Best XLB. Better than Din Tai Fung Vancouver! (Maybe not beater than DTF in Asia). I know some might challenge this assertion but hey, I eat a lot of XLBs! Owner remembered me from the Main Street days. And I literally haven’t been for like 10 years! The 生煎包s were super good too! Love that their new location is clean and bright. Only negative is it was super loud but I guess that is a typical Chinese restaurant!

It feels like Hong Kong. The streamed buns are very tasty. The hot and sour soup is not salty enough. Overall, it is a good place to spend your lunch in Richmond.

A small and busy restaurant, but the food is quite good. I enjoyed the wontons and pan fried buns, though I’ve had better xiao long nap at other places. The youtiao/Chinese dough stick and soy milk felt overpriced. Service and atmosphere were fairly standard.

Lunch with Vancouver foodie friends. Typical Chinese dumpling restaurant, looks can be deceiving (ask Caitlyn Jenner), the food was amazing, intense flavor bombs.

First, the drunken chicken came in a traditional tall serving cup which ensured the chicken was well soaked in the Chinese white wine, luckily I wasn't driving.

The beef soup noodles were on par with others I've tried, noodles firm, beef tender, soup hot and beefy.

Soup dumplings were expertly made, tender minced pork, thinly wrapped and bursting with liquid filling.

Big and chunky Jelly fish was fresh and crunchy, needed to add more vinegar cuz that's how I roll.

Xiaolongbao (fried soup dumplings) were excellent. Big, fluffy bready dough fried on one side filled with tender pork (similar to the normal soup dumplings) and bursting with juice. These were the hit of the show and also what this restaurant is know for.

Great start to my Vancouver visit, the food culture here is alive and well
