The most authentic and delicious Malaysian food we have had in the Pacific Northwest including Vancouver and Seattle ( we’re Malaysian ). Food made with love and it shows: fantastic satay, Hainanese chicken rice, and Chau kway teow plus homemade kuih. Absolutely worth repeat visits!

Nyonya House reminded me of my time back in Southeast Asia. Just replace the oppressive humidity and heat of hawker centres with the cool breeze of Steveston harbour.

The Laksa I found to be authentic, with a mix of two kinds of noodles and assorted seafood pieces. The broth struck an appealing balance between the creamy coconut milk and the spices of the curry mix.

The Hainanese Chicken Rice was equally delightful. I appreciated the texture of the meat and flavorful layer of aspic, which is often missing in other restaurants. The chicken was neatly deboned and presented simply with ginger scallion and red chili sauces.

I believe this is a mom-and-pop operation so adjust expectations on order times accordingly.

It's a small newer family restaurant. The food, the portion, price, quality are all good.
If you are in this area, this is a good choice for you. I think we should support our local small business.
The bigger local western restaurants are giving discount for the happy hour. But the price of the Asian small restaurants are more than reasonable, I think we get more than we pay.

We recently visited Nyonya House - Malaysian Restaurant and tried a couple of classic dishes: Beef Rendang and Curry Laksa Chicken. The food was decent, though it didn't quite live up to the authenticity we were expecting based on the name. While it wasn’t bad by any means, it lacked the depth of flavor and traditional touch that you’d usually find in these dishes. That being said, the flavors were still enjoyable overall.

The real letdown, however, was the Teh Tarik. The tea base was not as smooth as we had hoped, and it was quite weak compared to the rich, robust flavor you'd expect from a good cup of Teh Tarik. A little more refinement here could make a big difference.

The food at this restaurant is ok, but the portions are too small~!! And the service is incredibly slow. I’ve never had to wait this long at any other restaurant. On top of that, there’s no restroom—you have to use one outside.

This little family run restaurant is relatively new to Steveston, hadn't noticed it until recently despite it being open for more than a year now. Very happy to have discovered it, it's a great place for tasty Malaysian food! The menu has many offerings but some personal favourites - roti canai, beef rendang, char kuey teow, sambal eggplant, rojak fruit salad. Some folks have complained about the service, leave poor reviews because they believe they should have received better this or that...this is a tiny restaurant run by a husband and wife doing their best to succeed, we have only received gracious, friendly and attentive customer service and delicious food on each visit. Definitely worth a trip to Steveston, give them a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

It was my wife’s birthday and we wanted to go somewhere special yet informal. We hoped of course for a delicious meal. OMG. Why did it take us so long to discover this gem? Unlike what is often the case, the dishes we tried exceeded the online pics. This is not a place you must dress to the 9s to fit in. Just go. The atmosphere is local cafe, but, do not be fooled. The FOOD is 5 thumbs up all the way. Subtle rich flavours galore. The only difficulty was what to select? To keep solving this problem, we will be back! Their take out option will be calling us too. Thank you Nyonya House!

Parking: Steveston parking can be a challenge at times. On a Monday night the good sized lot with free
parking was half empty and it is super close.

Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs inside or out, lots of space to manoeuvre.

Each dish we ate was, if possible, more delicious than the one before. The dishes were perfectly seasoned and delightful. We can hardly wait to go there again.

Ordered 3 noodle dishes. They were fine. Also ordered a Hainanese Chicken Rice for my 2 yr old son. That was the worst Hainanese Chicken my family have all seen and tasted. Chicken was soggy like mush and partially cooked. A few pieces were still pink, clearly uncooked. Had I not seen it, my toddler son would have eaten it. I don't think it would end well for this small restaurant if one of us had gotten sick. We're not unreasonable people but would just like business owners to acknowledge when something is not right and not make the customer feel like they're lying. At the end, we got a small discount from them and were told by the female server that "they've been serving this dish all day and nobody else complained." Just because nobody complained, doesn't mean our chicken that is not properly cooked is ok to eat. Nobody else complained so I guess we just got unlucky with this dish.... We still tipped them because we know running a restaurant business is not easy. The service was slow but understandable because it's a small shop. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place and we frankly don't feel comfortable coming back again.
