Great little place at #2Rd and Blundell. We got there around 6:30 on a Saturday and got a table immediately, but it was full within 30 min. Tiny place ..maybe only 6 tables for 4. They seemed to be doing a booming takeout business.

Something has Changed at Otaru.
We’ve loved this spot for years, with my previous rating being 5 stars for friendly staff, good food, and fair pricing. But on our recent visit, the sushi, especially the rice, was hard, not fresh, and lacked its usual flavour. We’ve noticed others commenting on the same decline especially regarding the rice and fillers.
When we politely shared our experience, the staff were very nonchalant, which was disappointing. We’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and try again soon, hoping it was just an off day, as we’d love to keep Otaru as our go-to sushi spot.

We came here on a Saturday and the restaurant was empty aside from 1 table with a group of 7 and the rest of the restaurant was empty. The next table was taken by their whole staff.
We asked if we could have a table for 7, and the server said “we can’t seat 7”. I asked when the next table would be free and they said 40 minutes even though the restaurant was fairly empty.
They did not suggest having our group sit at separate tables but beside eachother or try to be more accommodating for a group of paying customers. The servers showcased laziness instead.
We took our business to Sushi Aria for friendlier customer service and accommodation for our group even though their restaurant was busier.

Unagi don, katsu don r great. Undo r good. Niki toro cone is great. Only two servers but they r great!! Headful of works but still smiling n pouring waterupon request. Give the two ladies a 6 stars n approve their payraise 😊🥳😁

The place is neat and tidy. Staff are friendly.
I love the Udon. The taste was good. Kid's menu portion was generous when compared to my udon. 😆 The salmon sushi was great, too!

Ordered ubereats - couldn't even finish it. Quality was not there maybe it was just a one off the rest of the reviews seem decent but I wish I could've gotten my money back because we could not eat it. Unfortunately inedible :(
