Otaru is in my neighbourhood and I invited my friend’s family (2 adults, 2 boys) to come join me for lunch on a school holiday (Monday Oct 2, 2023) . I walked in at 12 noon. There were 2 tables of customers before me, and 3 tables got the “reserved” sign. Luckily, we got seated at the larger table by the window. Their menu is impressively diverse, so many different items to choose from. We ordered sashimi, soba, a deluxe roll and a kids sushi plate to try a variety of things. We thought we might need to order more since we had 3 adults but we were actually quite full! I was impressed by how thick the sashimi slices were cut and they were all so tasty and fresh. That speaks quality! I also like the broccolis on the soba which had lots of beef! Will definitely recommend! ?⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Vegetarian options: Sushi rolls

Great service, waitresses are very attentive and responsive. The dining environment is nice, good background music choices. The food was decent, with minimal hiccups:- sushi rice was bit hard- teriyaki udon was a bit soggy / overcookThe worth mentioning:- the ribs are tender and well marinated- chicken steak was juicy- tako wasabi flavour is well balanced

So, Otaru Japanese Restaurant in Richmond, BC - been hitting this joint a few times, and let me tell ya, it's easily one of my go-to sushi spots. Their sushi game is always on point, and on my recent visit, I decided to venture beyond the rolls. The beef teriyaki? Straight-up savory magic. The spicy tuna sashimi? Had my taste buds doing a happy dance. And the karage don? A classic comfort food vibe that hit the spot. Otaru ain't just about sushi; it's about serving up a legit Japanese culinary experience. And major props to our server - seriously, the real MVP. Super friendly, with the biggest, warmest smile I've ever seen. Made me feel more welcome than my own living room. Top-notch service that added a whole extra layer of awesomeness to the dining experience.Whether you're a regular like yours truly or a newbie, Otaru Japanese Restaurant is the real deal for top-notch sushi, diverse flavors, and a vibe that feels like a home away from home. Consistent quality, killer service - this spot is rocking the Richmond food scene. Oh my Gutts!!!
The meal is OK, but one of Raman services less than one minute after ordering the meal which feel strange, another dish of Raman takes a few minutes.

Service was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. As we sat down, the servers were so kind even though it was just me and my broski. We ordered the BC rolls, Unagi rolls, and Spicy Tuna rolls. All of them tasted authentic and amazing. Overall a great restaurant for some good, decently priced, authentic, Japanese food.Kid-friendliness: Great even if kids are going by themselves

No greetings, no services from them. Servers was standing around chatting or played with their phones. We like their salmon toro and prawn tempura, rest of the Nigiri sushi are not that fresh. We had over $100 orders for 2 , still no thank you or smile from them.Saw a lot of people ordered noodles in soup, maybe try it next time.
