This little cha chaan teng is located on the ground level of a well-known supermarket. I’ve passed by it countless times over the years but never actually stepped in. Recently, I finally paused to read the menu posted outside and realized they offer a very affordable breakfast set, which convinced me to give it a try.

The interior is aged and simple, with no modern renovation or fancy decoration. It feels very much like a traditional neighborhood cha chaan teng — practical, straightforward, and focused on function rather than style. The breakfast choices are limited, just like many classic cha chaan teng menus, but the prices are quite reasonable, especially in today’s market.

We ordered a corned beef and egg sandwich and an egg and luncheon meat macaroni soup, both served with Hong Kong–style milk tea. The portion sizes were not particularly generous, but considering the pricing, it felt fair. The flavors were simple and familiar — nothing extraordinary, yet deeply nostalgic. It truly brings back memories of dining at small cha chaan tengs in Hong Kong.

One of the biggest highlights, however, is not the food — it’s the owner and staff. They are extremely friendly and chatty, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You can tell there are many regular customers, and it’s clear that some have been visiting for years. The owner and staff even remember their favorite dishes, which says a lot about the strong sense of community this place has built.

Overall, it’s not a place you visit for gourmet food, but rather for comfort, familiarity, and human connection. I’ll definitely drop by again next time I’m in the area doing groceries.

If there’s one thing you must try from this place it’s their 煎蛋梅菜肉餅飯 Preserved Veg. W/Meatpatty & Egg. Great portions and delicious patty! I also love getting their ham and egg sandwich with a hot ovaltine drink if I want a lighter meal. Probably my fav HK spot in Richmond. It’s recommended to call before coming in for a reservation if you want to be seated a booth!

Hong Kong style fast food - nostalgic - just like the good old days when people were so kind.

We have been to bbq next door a few times and got curious about this place. I also came across a YouTube video by a real estate agent that introduced this place. We hadn’t been able to show up during their open hours but today new year day is the day.

There were not many tables and they did not pack tables together. It was still quite spacious and you could walk around comfortably. We arrived with our little baby. There was no bigger table available, so we were told to wait for one. A gentleman volunteered to give up the table he and his friend just sat down to us. How nice he was, thank you very much!

We had no clue walk to order. We randomly chose Chinese sauce beef brisket on rice and pork chop with onion on rice combo with a mix of coffee & tea. The owner said good choice as their pork chop was really very juicy. Now I became anticipated!

Pork chop did live up to its fame! It was pan fried to order, crispy outside but juicy inside. It felt like my mum’s pork chop! Also it came in a very generous amount and a little container of soy sauce. It was different from what I expected on pork chop with onion. I was thinking of having pork chop cooked in an onion sauce. But I was very pleasantly surprised that it turned out this way. I did not think I needed to add all the soy sauce next time.

Beef brisket was quite tasty too, just got overshadowed by the pork chop.

Mix of coffee and tea was also good.

The owner came check with us a couple of times to see if I needed extra 1) soy sauce, and 2) napkin. She was also very nice to say goodbye to our little baby.

A server also came check with us if we could use chopsticks 🥢 and if not, she could give us fork.

Even their customers were nice. A young lady kept interacting with my little baby.

We were really happy that we finally made it to this place today on the New Year Day. We would definitely love to come back and be mindful they only open from 8 am to 2 pm.

OMG! Love this HK-style fast food hole-in-the-wall place -and open early mornings! Bare bones fast service, simple menu, comfort foods (HK Cafe cuisine if u know what that is), under $20 for myself, a satisfying quickie first thing in the morning. Very friendly warm service - order at the counter - then seat yourself. I said “keep the change” (in broken Cantonese) which is a “tip-off” that they should probably speak English to me - and they did, albeit I held my own upto that point 😂 having never spoken a single word of English the whole time, but they graciously accommodated me in English. I understand it can be intimidating but their menus are in English with abundant photos, so ordering is easy. A healthier alternative to bacon & eggs! Ample free parking. Take out also. Looking forward to coming again often.

Most people come to this shopping center for HK BBQ Master, but we came specifically for Paul's Kitchen AND it was very authentic HK style breakfast cuisine. We only had our credit cards and I asked the person at the cash register if they take credit card, she said nope but there is an ATM upstairs at the Superstore. We went upstairs to grab some cash from the ATM out front.

When we got back downstairs, the lady in charge already had reserved a table for us and immediately explained to us what is served during the breakfast hours. She gave us a few recommendations and we went with the wonton with brisket as they ran out of fish balls and the HK Style Grilled Beef with Black Peppercorn Sauce.

Both items were marvelously well made, the peppercorn sauce is EXACTLY how its done in HK and all major cities with a huge HK population. But the winner is the wonton. By golly, I have had hundreds of bowls of wonton, I have made hundreds of wonton dumplings for my family's business but this one really stands out amongst all of them.

The service is efficient and very friendly and they greeted so many regular customers with kind words asking about their work and family. I felt like I was entering into a HK neighborhood corner cafe.

Authentic and delicious Hong Kong-style food! The pan-fried pork patty rice is a must-try, and the iced lemon tea is good too.
Friendly aunties with great service.
Not many seats, so takeout is a good idea!

This place is the essence of a home cooked meal. And that's why it's appreciated. Don't expect fancy garnish or even a properly balanced dining table. But definitely expect a fresh in quality meal 👍🏻

Cute restaurant tucked away inside Real Cdn Superstore complex. Becky & Paul aim to please & milk tea plus porkchop, two eggs & toast for $10 all in is awesome for locals & visitors alike.

Wonderful experience at Paul's Kitchen. Great value and delicious food. Particularly enjoyed Becky's warm welcome and hospitality. Today was my first visit and I'll definitely go back.

I decided to go here based on Google reviews and wanting to find a hidden gem diner like the Golden Coin. I was massively disappointed. The food is abysmal at best. There is absolutely no flavor, no taste. The food looked nothing like the picture shown. The only flavor we got was from the massive glob of butter they put on our toast that tasted like lemon. Definitely will not return. Also the beef satay is actually just beef sauteé that's very soggy and completely unappetizing. That was a huge waste of money I couldn't even finish my food

Richmond's patties are the best. They are crispy on the outside and not dry on the inside. They also have a half-boiled egg.
Both curry beef briskets are excellent and the service is also very good. They proactively ask you if you need water and will save a seat for you.
