Went here with a friend and it was one order per person as a minimum.
We ordered tteokbokki with ramen and Gimbap (total $28) the food was okay, gimbap had no flavour at all, the tteokbokki tasted bland, it said it was a beef broth but there wasnât any beef flavouring at all and the consistency was way too thick, the ramen was also overcooked.
One of the server was really rude to me for no reason and annoyed. (I work in food service too so I thought I could understand her but this was unnecessary).
Server was indirectly asking for tips when paying, but the service wasnât good so I didnât tip.
Took the rest for take out and left. Would rather order take out next time than dine in.
If youâre going in a big group order small portions for each person as everyone has to choose something.
Portion estimation:
Tteokbokki - 12âx12â height 2.5â
Gimbap - 10 pieces 5cmx5cm (a piece)
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I used to come here regularly and always enjoyed the food and experience, which I believe is the reason they still have a 4-star rating. However, due to work, I hadnât visited in over a year. When I finally returned with my family recently, I was deeply disappointed.
First, the side dishes were reduced to only two kinds and served in extremely small portions. Even though there were five of us, we were only given one tiny piece of each per person. When I asked if we could have a little more, I was told it would cost an additional $1.50. That already left me confused and disappointed.
The main dishes were still decent, but when the lettuce wrap pork was served, we were only given about five pieces of garlic for over twenty slices of meat. I asked politely for a few more garlic slices, and again was told it would cost $1.50 extra. At that point, I was honestly frustrated. I had paid $38 for the meat dish, yet even basic accompaniments like garlic cost extra? I waved it off and declined, only to receive a cold, unpleasant look from the lady owner.
To top it off, she clearly saw that our water pitcher was empty for a while and didnât bother to refill it or check on us.
This restaurant used to be so popular that there was always a line. Now, itâs nearly empty and I can see why. I truly hope the owners reflect on whether their service still meets customersâ expectations. If not, I fear this place may soon turn into yet another empty restaurant on the block.
Until improvements are made, I wonât be returning.

Good food, good price.
No free refills ;-;
Havenât been since 2019 and this place has gone downhill. No kimchi as a side dish- that is unacceptable for a Korean restaurant!! They had mediocre bean sprouts and some onion side dish only (also refills for $1.50?!?!?). My cold noodle #55 came with only one very small piece of meat. Also it did not come with extra vinegar/mustard for me to adjust to my liking. Only the katsu seemed to be worth it. One word to describe this visit: disappointing. Side note, they do take credit cards, they just prefer you to pay with cash/debit. My friend accidentally paid with credit card and it went through lol (they probably donât want to pay for the cc fees which is why they say no credit cards)

I have been coming for years but recently they have cut out the numbers of side dishes to kimchi and bean sprouts only. No more of my favourite potato:<
Very good food. Each dish is very large. As a note, they only take cash or debit card.

Restaurantji Recommends
I discovered Samsoonie almost 10 years ago now, itâs always a staple to go when youâre craving some Korea style food. The food is always delicious, itâs hard to give a recommendation on what to try on your first time, after eating here so much pretty much trying everything I could say try something new every time you come. I would also recommend when you come make sure you indulge with yourself or the people you go with, order multiple items and try what interest you on the menu.
The service is really good here, very kind, friendly and helpful staff who will help you will your needs and wants.
A few things to keep in mind, they only accept cash or debit so make sure your prepared for that, it can get busy at peak hours of the day or on weekends, the restaurant is not the biggest so it does fill up fast so also keep in that mind if you are planning to come and additionally the parking isnât the best but i recommend to park at the back of the restaurant where there is tons of parking and is less crowded.

Got the japchae and it was exactly what I was looking for. Canât wait to go back, delicioussssss
But I, being hungry, gaze again towards this Katsu.
The portion size of the #25 LA galbi with rice is so so so small for $30 and super dry and over cooked. For a Korean restaurant the only side dishes that were given were bean sprouts and fish cakes, not even a side of kimchi. I have never been to a Korean restaurant that doesnât give you kimchi on the side. Definitely do not recommend and wonât be coming back. Servers didnât check up on us once. Probably the worst Korean restaurant all tricities
Terrible experience. This place used to be good back in days. We ordered LA Galbi for $30 and it came with 3 strips of meat, dry and overcooked. We informed the server and she said theres nothing she can do about it. The side dish had no kimchi. Its unfortunate because this place used to be everyones go to. The server never once checked on us during the meal either. I would save your time and go somewhere else.
