I would say it’s probably one of the authentic Shanghainese restaurants in Richmond for fast meals. If you’ve been to Shanghai, you’ll know.
Went with the thrill of dumplings however there were issues with payments according to the staff there as they thought that all Mastercard debit cards are American. Telling me that there was an issue as the previous transactions of the store used debit Visa/Interac cards and that became a problem for them as they wanted to avoid the ‘2% fees’ , self-service water on plastic cups and food taste was so so.
At the end, they would scold you for perceived low tips on a lunch occasion.
Great little restaurant serving Shanghai food. Self serv tea and water, food was excellent and service was good. Placement of the tables were a little tight.
We went here because it was recommended on a food blogger’s Instagram account, and I also saw it had a 4+ star rating on Google when I looked it up. However, we didn’t find it lived up to the hype. We were seated next to a TV that was showing Kung Fu Panda and the volume was really loud. One of the seats at our table was quite dirty. We got two meal combos, both of which came with their signature king dumplings. The dumplings were decent, but the soup dishes that came with were only so-so. The plastic cups at the self-service free water station were dirty and the cups themselves smelled like bleach. All in all, the food was only okay, and nothing spectacular considering the price. It was a bit of a disappointment.
Authentic Shanghai style street food. Dumpling and pork chops are amazing. So glad they are now open in Richmond. Would definitely come back for other dishes.
Authentic. This is my go-to comfort spot never disappoints. Fresh hot wontons and dumplings on a cold night has never hit harder.
Mediocre food, somewhat expensive with what we've got and CASH only, not sure why I will go for a second time
I would have rated 5 star because the food was great. Ordered the combo B with noodle and dumplings and price very was reasonable.
However… they have a self serve station for hot or cold water. My water tasted funny like there soap residue in it. I tasted my bf cup and his was totally fine. I asked him to taste mine and he agreed it tasted weird. After the meal, both of us had very bad stomach pain and diarrhea.
Really authentic Shanghainese food, though the service could be improved. Still recommend it to anyone who wants to try.
Food was tasty and service was quick.

Food is realllllly good. We had their scallion oil noodle and the signature dumplings, both are very good. The only complaint is that it's also on the pricier side as well. I mean plain noodle with the scallion oil = 12.99? No meat?! And 20+ for a noodle with meat? I'd expect better atmosphere and service with that price.
Cleanliness is very questionable. Floor has food bits at 11:10am and I was the 2nd customer
I also don't like their business strategy. They have these "combos" in their menu but none of them consists of their signature dishes.. and they know what dishes are those... They literally have other signs saying these are the popular ones on social media and none of those dishes are in a combo. It's like they designed their menu so you will pay more for their signature dish.
Again, to be fair, their food is good. I would probably come back, but not as often as I'd like due to pricing.

Stopped by for a quick lunch but it was totally disappointed.
It’s a typical Chinese mainland style dumpling place you can experience in Richmond.
Service is non existent with self service water station you have to get your own water.
The worst of all is the cooks were eating their lunch while cooking food orders.
They didn’t change their food price on the wall so don’t be surprised your bill is higher.
At the end they expect you to tip them.
Never going back!

Okay y’all, life is all about: happiness = reality - expectations. Don’t expect too much in terms of cleanliness and service, that’s not the authentic Chinese experience. Think of it more as a hole-in-the-wall than a fancy restaurant. It’s clean enough and service is good enough.
Most importantly, the food is good enough. It’s actually very flavourful and tasty. It can err on the heavier side and it’s a bit oily for my taste, but I can see others really loving it for the same reason. I would still recommend giving it a try if you’re in the area, and I would probably come back for the wontons and pork chop. They are quite busy and popular, and the people running it are working hard. Just don’t expect too much and you’ll be pleasantly satisfied ☺️

jvlu combo - dumpling king 6pc + curry beef vermicelli soup + tea egg (19.50) / fumin combo - dumpling king 6pcs + tiger prawn small wonton 12pcs + tea egg (19.99) / fuxing combo - dumpling king 6pcs + secret stuffing large wonton 6pcs + tea egg (21.99) / red braised pork belly (17.95) / the meeting of three - dry noodle mixed with deep fried scallion oil + pork chop braised with soy sauce + spicy ground pork + pickled vegetable and shredded pork (30.99)
Saving money is making money, so I just saved you 40 bucks potentially! Very substandard food for this price. Dumpling is supposed to be their specialty from the name of their restaurant, yet is the most disappointing item. The most impressive item is the self served tea because you can put in the desired amount of tea leafs in the cup to your liking. I gave them a chance to prove themselves, but no going back again. But if you are not Asian, please continue to support them, you wouldn't notice the difference anyway.
