. Some of the best authentic Xiao Long Baos I’ve ever had anywhere in the World!

. Friendly service.

. Casual and lively Chinese food court. Seating can be limited during busy periods.

Really homey Shanghainese small eats!
Had the pan fried dumplings (thicc juicy boys) and wonton soup.
Dumplings were really juicy, somewhat deep fried (think shengjian buns), but lots of juicy pork filling.
Wontons were super homey and classic with a savoury shrimp peel, seaweed and ginger broth. All for $15!
Mouth-watering chicken is more like drunken spicy chicken. Tender but I think I prefer the Sichuan/Xian version.

Great daily specials all for about $15, will come back for pan-fried buns shengjian as they were sold out near closing.

Owners are also super friendly and nice ✨

We were visiting Vancouver for a few days from the States and stopped in here randomly. We ordered the pan-fried buns and the xiao long baos - I am not exaggerating when I tell you that the pan-fried dumplings are the best buns/dumplings I've ever had in my life. The flavor and texture were absolutely perfect, and eating here was definitely a highlight of our trip. We stopped back in the day before we were supposed to leave Canada just to purchase 2 more orders of the pan-fried buns for our journey back home.

We had the Friday lunch special. There are daily specials reasonably priced. Today was a bowl of small wontons with 4 pan fried buns for $15.00. They only accept cash and e-transfer. So be prepared.

Everything is handmade. The pan fried buns were amazing. The dough was fluffy, light, and the bottom was crispy. The filling had the perfect amount of soup. But be aware that the inside soup is very very hot and can burn your tongue/mouth.

The lady at the front was sooo friendly and nice. She even explained to be careful when we eat the buns to just take a little bite of the outside to let the soup cool off a bit. Thank goodness we listened. ☺️

The wontons were all meat and delicious. They had a nice flavour.

We forgot to take photos of the food but will next time.

If you’re in the area, go and eat there.

Delicious. Will be back.

Overrated, food was just average and price was higher than expected.

The best xlb I’ve ever had

Came here for xiao long baos (pork soup dumplings). Very well made dumplings: thin wrapper and very juicy. The xiao long baos were also nicely sized too and priced very competitively.

Also had the sliced beef noodle soup. Some tender beef pieces but it was mostly just noodles. Not exactly worth the price.

Five stars for the service and xiao long baos. Can’t wait to come back!

This place is a treat. Best xiao long bao I’ve had outside of Shanghai, super friendly staff and good prices.

I bought a small food shop in Hong Kong 16 years ago, and it makes, IMHO, the best Chinese fried dumplings I have ever eaten. We sell 2,000+ dumplings 12 hours a day every day. We catered to restaurants and clubhouses. I had not eaten a better Chinese fried dumpling until I tried Shanghai Lao Wei Dao's. Although not as good as my shop's, it is quite close.

Both are made to order. Both have hot, juicy broth inside that could scald your mouth or spill all over the place if not eaten carefully. Both have delicious, perfectly marinated pork and vegetables inside.

As for other food, it is mediocre. That is why my wife and I only come here to order Chinese fried dumplings.

Hopefully, Shanghai Lao Wei Dao is here to stay. My shop was short-lived. Just before I closed my shop permanently, I fired the arrogant, egotistic, narcissistic Trump-like greedy scumbag chef's arse. It felt good. 😆😂🤣

It's a very delicious XLB. Have to try if you visit this area!! Don't forget to bring cash, and it's $8.50 for this.
