With the longing for a late-night restaurant, it was replaced by the experience of spending money and suffering. Congratulations to this restaurant for becoming the first negative review in my review area.We entered at 6:00pm on weekdays. The room was filled with the smell of oil smoke as soon as we entered. The boss had a bad attitude and kept urging us to order quickly, while the notice said the business would close at 9:00pm.Sometimes hunger really overcomes reason, and the result of enduring rudeness is a plate of fried dumplings swimming in oil, with soft skin! There are also chicken rice and ramen, except for "oil", there is no other taste. When checking out, the boss was completely impatient. Even when we left, he immediately pulled down the roller blinds, closed the door, and ended the business. I experienced the feeling of being kicked out. It was less than 7:00pm and there was still time before the marked break. There are two hours. After returning home, my hair and sweater still had a strong smell of oil smoke, which was unpleasant. This is the first negative Google review I have ever written.1. The whole place was filled with the smell of cooking oil fumes.2. The owner had a terrible attitude, constantly urging us to hurry up and place our orders.3. The dumplings seemed to be swimming in oil, with soft and mushy skins! The chicken rice and ramen, aside from being overly oily, lacked any other flavors.4. During checkout, the owner was impolite and impatient.5. As soon as we left, the owner immediately pulled down the shutters and closed the door, ending business, even though it was not even 7:00 pm, with the indicated closing time being 9:00pm.6. When I got home, my hair and sweater still carried a strong smell of cooking oil fumes, which was very unpleasant.

Seriously good ramen (larmen)! The chef is kind and passionate about his food. All dishes are homemade and free of MSG. The broth was delish and the noodles-perfection?? I'll be sure to return!

Some of the best food. Owned by a very genuine person who strives to serve the most fresh and high quality food for every customer. An authentic experience where the chef takes pride in their work. Everyone should go and we will be returning. Please be kind, this is a one-man show and all the food is made to order so expect a wait if there are orders before you. Patience - it is well worth the wait.

Arigatou Sato San for your service and delicious shoyu ramen. When we can come we always enjoy our time here. We wish you the best in your endeavours and we love your ramen which brings me back to my childhood of how ramen used to be and should still be. Nowhere worse in Vancouver can you get this style of simplicity the way Japanese food has been historically. And you always try to consider the healthy options. We thank you for your service all these years and wished we could come more often. Thank you

This is a small and cozy restaurant opened and operated by an older Japanese gentleman, serving authentic Japanese food.Overall, food is 5-star for sure. You can tell that the chef puts care into preparing it for you. Also very authentic as if you are eating in a small restaurant in Japan. I ordered one of the lamens- portion is just enough. Cost for each food item is also reasonable and affordable.Service can be better, but is understandable as it is just one person. He will take your order, make your order immediately, and then move onto the next party. So if you are not the first party that gets seated, you may be waiting for quite a while. However, he is super friendly and happy to be here, feels like you just got home after a long day with your parents/grandparents making food for you.

Shibuyatei has the best quality and most authentic Japanese food that I’ve ever had in BC. The ingredients used for everything are top tier and the food tastes no different from what I was accustomed to eating in Tokyo and Osaka. The owner is a kind and passionate man who is eager to share his impressive history of award winning food with receptive patronsDon’t expect much for ambience or atmosphere, if this is what you’re expecting you are missing the point. Everything here is about the food. The chef works single-handedly, so anticipate a bit of a wait (but that’s okay because all good things take some time) and if you’re not willing to be patient then go eat at McDonalds because you probably won’t appreciate this place to its full extent.Shibuyatei has blown away my expectations and I look forward to being a patron of this restaurant for years to come.

An absolute gem of a restaurant on the outskirts of Richmond. The chef/owner specializes primarily in Ramen (what he calls “Larmen”) and gyoza. His ramen was even featured by the most famous Japanese food reviewer in Japan!Every meal I’ve had has transported me back to Japan. It is clear to me that the owner cares deeply about creating quality food.Kid-friendliness: Please be aware he does require everyone who sits at a table to order something. As a struggling small restaurant I feel this is a very reasonable request.

Cook and owner has very bad attitude. Hostile behaviour, food was mediocre but price was pretty expensive.Everyone has to order at least one item , no sharing allowed. Definitely no extra bowl or utensils. Not so keen to serve customers but still run the business. Opening hours appeared erratic, tend to close early.Wonder why he still runs the business if so unhappy to serve customers.Bad service but still expecting good tips. Really ridiculous!Avoid this place.Never come to this joint again!

Great ramen and Japanese food. The chef was very friendly with me and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. He is a one man show. I enjoyed the Larmen and gyoza. The Larmen is a light and clean broth with a Tokyo style shio or shoyu flavor. The gyoza is fresh and like the ramen also high quality. The flavor of the ramen is present and excellent but not overpowering. I highly recommend checking out Shibuyatei Japanese Restaurant for some authentic, fresh and high quality Japanese food without any additives or MSG.Parking: Half full parking lot

One man show, made on the spot. But as hole in the wall as you get. Cold day with space heaters to keep it warm. Food was ok, but authentic.
