One of our favorite mom and pops sushi places in Richmond. Good quality ingredients with friendly service.

Taste of the sushi was excellent however they are quite limited on what they had available that wasn’t sold out - we arrived around 12 and a large selection of the menu was already sold out. It is a small restaurant with around 6 tables. Overall their fish seemed really fresh - the madai was excellent. The adegashi tofu along with the shrimp tempura also tasted incredible.

The sashimi is fresh and tastes great.

Only nitpicks are the price since its a little high for the portions you get and the servers being a little awkward.

If you happen to be in the fishing village of Steveston in Richmond around lunch time, then check out the lunch specials at Shintaro Sushi Japanese Restaurant (3791 Bayview St, Richmond, BC V7E 3B6). I suggest their lunch sets because you get more bang for your buck. (I had the chicken karaage set). However, I highly recommend the lunch specials. We tried the stewed madai (seabream) head set, and it was fresh, savoury and very satisfying!

Good to know: make reservations (to avoid long waits); lunch specials are in limited quantities; they don't accept parties bigger than four; they're only open Thursday to Sunday (11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 9 p.m.)

All kinds of food have Japanese flavor, including sauces and wasabi??
Maybe it’s really managed by a Japanese chef!

The chef is very rude when we bring baby there, and staring at baby all the time which makes baby crying, not recommend at all

The sushi is incredibly delicious and exceptionally fresh, expertly prepared to enhance its flavors. My only concern is with the service because it’s a bit inexperienced. With time, though, I'm confident they'll improve. For instance, when you hand me 2 special menu, it's best not to snatch one away as I'm browsing. Also, serving tea or water as we're seated should be a standard practice. With more experience, this place has the potential to be one of the best sushi spots in BC!

I can't comment on the food since I didn't get welcomed at all in entering the restaurant. I arrived at around 12:55PM on a Sunday and could see a few tables empty from the outside. I attempted to open the door and to my surprise the door was locked. I made eye contact to the server inside who was in the middle of cleaning up a table. After cleaning up the table, I was expecting her to open the door and of course she went back to the kitchen as if there was no one waiting outside. I checked the hour of operation again and it clearly should be operating till 2:00PM. Well. I wish this restaurant go out of business soon since if they believe food catering business is just about serving good food, they are not equiped to operate a buisiness.

We came here on a weekday evening for dinner. The restaurant is operated by Japanese people. It looks small and homey but the food was so fresh and delicious. Service was excellent and food came quickly. This is like a hole in the wall type of restaurant and I will definitely come back again.

Parking: You can easily find parking on weekday evening but good luck with weekends.

Kid-friendliness: The seats are comfy and well spaced out if you sit at the booth seats
