The Fish Man in Richmond has become one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. The vibe is lively and packed with local Asian diners, which always gives me confidence in the food. The lighting is warm and bright, and even though the space gets busy, the high ceilings make it easy to have a conversation. The dining area is clean, but the restroom could use improvement.
We ordered the Lingcod with sour cabbage flavor, salted egg yolk lobster, oysters, and a variety of BBQ skewers. Portions are very generous and everything tasted fresh, especially the seafood. The sour cabbage Lingcod is the dish that made me fall in love with this place. I keep coming back hoping to relive that first bite, and it never disappoints.
Service can be hard to flag down when it’s busy, but the staff is friendly and quick once they reach you. The space is large and family friendly.
I’ve visited four times now and always leave happy. I will definitely return every time I’m in Vancouver.

First time at this restaurant. The razor clams were outstanding! The scallion ginger Dungeness crab was tasty but not cracked so messy & expensive.

Great food, flavors and quality cuisine.
It's a bit pricey but you do usually get leftovers to take home. Overall, it's definitely worth checking out and exploring the menu.

“It was an extremely expensive fish. They charged us $151 for just one grilled fish and a plate of salad for two people.”

Absolutely love The Fish Man by Chef Li Bo! The seafood is incredibly fresh and full of flavour. The pickled vegetable fish 酸菜魚 is a must-try — perfectly balanced with a refreshing kick. The geoduck prepared two ways is another favourite, showcasing amazing texture and quality. On top of the great food, the service is always warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. A fantastic spot for anyone who loves top-notch seafood and great hospitality!

Four of us went for dinner after seeing this as #9 on the list of top Chinese restaurants in Canada. Super busy, lovely room. Not a place to linger over your meal, the helpful staff helped us pick our dishes and explained how it works. Pick your fish, sauce and additions.
Food hit the table really quick and hot. Delicious over all, I especially liked the main fish dish. Squid skewers were tasty but the beef was a bit chewy and very small. I think the best dish was the whole fish and the weakest was the seafood fried rice. They should reconsider using fake crab in thisndish and go for more wok flavour

We have been here numerous times; the food is of excellent quality, fresh seafood; well prepared and presented. Recently we were invited here for dinner; the seating hostess proceeded to ask which language we speak and highlighted all the specials on the menu which we have noticed is a new practice. It made our host somewhat uncomfortable as they have a certain budget in mind. My husband and I would also very much prefer to be asked if we want a “specials” presentation. We are very familiar with the menu and the “specials” sheet. A few of our friends have mentioned the same sentiment!

Fresh seafood and flavors very true to asian flavors. If you're traveling in Vancouver and need a change from western cuisine great place for asian seafood.

The sour fish at The Fish Man Vancouver is really flavorful — the broth is rich and tangy, and the fish is tender and fresh. Portion size is generous, and the spice level is just right. Service was quick and friendly. The only drawback is the environment — it can feel a bit crowded and noisy, but the food definitely makes up for it!
