The Regalia Restaurant

I went to The Regalia Restaurant because they advertised having authentic Hong Kong-style chicken hot pot (香港雞煲) — something I’ve been craving for years.
I’ve been in Canada for 12 years, and while about 98% of Hong Kong flavors can be found here, the true Hong Kong chicken hot pot has always been missing. Naturally, I had to give this place a try.
The restaurant environment is quite nice, and based on what I read online, it’s fairly new and run by people with real Hong Kong roots. Unfortunately, the chicken hot pot didn’t quite deliver. It looked right, but the taste was off. Instead of the complex, layered flavors you get from a chicken hot pot with a house-made sauce, this version was dominated by a strong shacha (沙茶) sauce flavor. It wasn’t bad — the dish was fine to eat — but it didn’t feel carefully crafted or close to the authentic Hong Kong taste I’ve been searching for.
On the other hand, their deep-fried salt & pepper grouper was excellent! It tasted truly authentic and very satisfying, especially since fresh ocean fish is hard to find in my hometown — Toronto. At $38.75 for one order, the portion was generous and felt like great value.
Given the price, if I had to choose between the grouper and the stir-fried clams, the grouper definitely feels like the much better deal.

I called for make a reservation. The waiter hang up the phone call suddenly when he told me just come in and no need any reservations. No any greeting words, just hang up very suddenly…and no bye bye…

I highly recommend this restaurant because the chicken pot was so flavorful and rich and the fried squid was very crispy and perfect amount of spice and the fried chicken wings were really good and my children loved it, plus the free ice cream at the end.

Exceeded expectation! The goose feet are huge , the chicken pieces are tender and the flavour is on point. Fresh ingredients served. Will visit again.

We got the fish of crab for $8.8 for ordering $100 of food. I heard there are lunch deal as well.

The Regalia Restaurant exceeded all my expectations! The ambiance is cozy yet sophisticated, perfect for a relaxed night out or a special celebration. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations. I was blown away by the quality and creativity of the dishes, each bite was packed with flavor and beautifully balanced. The attention to detail, from the presentation to the taste, truly sets this place apart. Went to this restaurant with my family and it was really good, despite what others said, I found the service to be good and the food was amazing, especially the egg yolk fried chicken. Would come again!
