Food was decent and reasonably priced. Service is basic and as expected for this type of restaurant.
But the kids play area has seen better days. Every toy is mismatched and broken. I understand kids are rough with toys and I'm sure it was great when the area was first opened, but without any maintenance, this has just become a neglected area with a bunch of broken toys.

Went here cause my wife saw a TikTok video where they showed a kid's play area, so we checked it out. The play area is a separate section away from the tables, so you're going to have to be ok with the kids playing out of reach - you're literally going to have to walk up a few steps to get to them. Also, the toys and stuff look like they've been heavily used. The staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere has a Cactus Club (downtown Vancouver) vibe to it, except, less busy - nothing special and nothing to get excited about.
I saved my review on the food for last because I think it needed its on space. The food.... Was horrible! It definitely wasn't the worse out of (at the time of this review) the 25 places I've reviewed so far on here - it's second to last though. I ordered a sashimi plate and the tuna had that very fishy taste (like that fishy smell that super markets have when the seafood is bad). The tempura used in the rolls tasted like day old tempura, and the same with the avocados. We ordered the salmon set for my toddler and my wife found a bone in my kid's salmon teriyaki and on top of all of that!!!... It was expensive for (for what I was getting).
If you plan on checking this place out for the kid's play area, go to Chucky Cheese or something instead. If you want to check this place out for the atmosphere, go dine at Cactus Club... And if you want to check this place out for its cuisine... Just don't. You're welcome.
Note: I was hoping my review would be 1/5 stars, but unfortunately the service was decent enough for me to give it a 3, which averages my score out to a 2/5 š.

Iām happy to forgive one or two things, but when there are consistent problems with food and service it becomes hard to overlook.
First, I ordered an āApple sake cocktailā which from the menu appeared to be a full glass of what I assumed would be sake, and Apple juice and water or mixer of some kind. Instead I received no more than a thimble of liquid which was a tiny bit of sake mixed with Apple sauce and a bunch of ice. It was the weirdest drink Iāve ever been served. I canāt imagine making it and thinking anyone would want to drink it. Mixing ice with something the consistency of Apple sauce? And in that portion? It looked nothing like the photo in the menu. Anyway, the drink was cheap so it wasnāt worth sending back.
Then my partner received his zaru soba set which he liked. My food didnāt arrive until he had already finished eating. I had ordered sukiyaki (which tasted good) and a dragon roll (which was also good). The sukiyaki came without the roll and the roll didnāt come until I was already done with the sukiyaki.
So basically my partner just sat there while I ate my food.
Then, disappointed, I just wanted to pay and leave. I pressed the ācall buttonā many times and no one came. I donāt know if those buttons even work because honestly, no one responded at all. Finally, we had to just get up and go to the front to pay.
Iām happy to pay for quality food and service, but this place is a complete rip off for what they are offering.

Quick lunch today. Fresh sashimi and one of the few places that has hamachi kama.

My first time at Toku was excellent. We were seated quickly and the staff were very friendly. The famous roll set, available 11 am to 3 pm, includes a full uramaki roll, a side dish, and miso soup. I tried the flamed sushi as a side dish and the salmon was very tender. The sea urchin was also fresh.
It's been a long time since I came to toku. The first time was not that good of an experience, but I remembered the food was good. A few days ago I thought about the food, and tired of cooking so I went in. The restaurant was busy so they asked if I mind sitting at counter, I said ok.
I ordered yaki Tori and chawan mushi which I have not had for ages, and main course of salmon fish dinner.
The servers were very nice, and attended to my need and brought a chair for my bag,as well as provided me with 2nd napkin.
First arrived was the miso soup, tinsy salty for my personal flavor, but the yaki Tori chicken, well that bring back memories of me buying yakitori chicken when I was in Japan coming home from train station buying to aki Tori from the yaki Tori stand.
The salmon fish dinner was delicious as well, fresh salmon cooked to perfect tenderness, the light salad with sesame sauce added it refreshing to my palette. Last was the chawan mooshi, a steam egg in a cup. This is truly one that I have not had for a really, really long time.
One reason I decided to come back here is thinking about first time and this time, their food brings a bit of nostalgia to the country I love.
Meal tastes great, sashimi was fresh, love the fountain in the entrance but the soup was a bit powdery, staff were very welcoming and the walls were well decorated.
Great place to dine, they have a children's play area and kids enjoy there. Great value for food and half price beer on Monday
Many lunch options to choose from and Great value for the bento box. Love their Unagi, soft and tender.

Sashimi not fresh. Weird taste
We had a sashimi bento set with fishy and not fresh sashimi, dated oil taste thick batter shrimp and vegetables tempura, mashed mushy tuna roll, salmon aburi sushi with extremely sour rice, salty miso soup, small seaweed salad, tiny piece of plastic taste mochi, fishy hamachi sushi, melt in my mouth unagi sushi and fatty and Chucky salmon toro sushi and watery matcha tiramisu.
Service was friendly, fast and polite.
They got large selection for lunch combo, maybe will go there for cook food next time.
Food was PHENOMENAL, service was a little slow. The apple sake was delicious
Inside the mall so parking no problem at all! First impression was huge space and had lot of doll at entrance for kids to play with. The playing area is too tiny so my kid doesnāt have chance to play in. For meal the kids meal portion was okay for my three years old , but it was a bit pricy for it. Sashimi was so fresh no doubt !!š
