Tried their premium omakase menu. Mediocre food, some of the fish/clam were not that fresh tasting... Very limited drinks menu, but attentive service though.

So impressed with the high standard of food and service. One of us ordered the Essential Tasting Menu and the other ordered a la carte. We were offered a guava gin sour in celebration of their 1 year anniversary. It should be a signature drink for Torake, just suggesting.? Would recommend the foie gras aburi and the salmon oshi was supreme. The entire experience was outstanding.

I had the opportunity to try Torake out for the first time and was blown away by every dish served from their premium omakase (tasting menu). The omakase offered a mix of traditional and fusion flavours which made it an interesting experience. Everything was fresh and delicious.Leaning into a more modern omakase experience, the sushi Chef was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended and I look forward to visiting again, thank you!

I went for a premium omakase dinner with friends. I was deeply impressed by the cozy atmosphere and attentive service. It's a place where you can tell right away that the people running it know their food, starting from the first dish. It's an omakase sushi restaurant that offers reasonable prices and a friendly vibe. I feel like it's a hidden gem that I want to keep to myself because I'm worried it'll become hard to get reservations once it gets too popular. It left such a good impression after my first visit that I felt compelled to leave a review. I hope more restaurants like this pop up in Vancouver.

So-so, not many choices, and it's pretty small, one order is hardly enough for one person. Fortunately, I'm a comparatively small appetite person but not my friends, it's a bit pricy.

This time I received a course for 120 dollars, but I was surprised at how comprehensive it was!All of them were delicious, but I like the grilled enkawa the best because I think it has a pleasant texture. It was a restaurant I would like to visit again in a different season.

My gf and I tried Torake's premium omakase recently for our anniversary, it was our first omakase and it was an amazing experience! As soon as you walk in you'll feel the coziness of the place along with the crisp and white lights from the ceiling. It is a small restaurant, so the vibe was not crowded nor loud. The server had a very polite manner, turns out she's also the baker that takes care of the desserts! Both her and the chef were from the same culinary school if I was not mistaken. Very interesting young staff that are just starting out on their own. We didn't know what to expect since it was our first omakase, I was very surprised at how fresh the fishes were compared to the normal sushi places. Each nigiri tasted very uniquely on its own, the wait between each nigiri was nicely designed, we didn't leave the place feeling full because of how spaced out the wait was. Although there were other premium ingredients such as the wagyu nigiri and uni + snow crab; Our favorite was the Otoro nigiri, it was very fatty, and melts right in our mouths. Overall, we were glad to choose Torake for our first omakase experience, affordable price for people who have never tried it but are looking forward to!

This Japanese omakase spot is a real treat! The chef whips up a variety of dishes that just hit the spot. Fresh sashimi, flavorful nigiri – everything tastes top-notch. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service make it a go-to spot for a laid-back, delicious meal. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into Japanese cuisine!

Second time back to this hidden gem. Everything was done to perfection. I can’t believe the sushi chief only have 2 years of experience in Japanese cuisine. Highly recommend this

Tried their tasting menu and it was good for the price ($120 per person)! I’d say this is a hidden gem in Richmond as there’s not a lot of omakase/tasting menu options around the area. I really appreciated their dedication to the dishes and the ambiance of the restaurant. The owners are very youthful which makes us feel welcome. Defo coming back soon!

Made reservation about a month ago for their premium tasting menu. Sat down only to be told that they only have one set left despite reservations ahead of time. Fortunately the kitchen staff confirmed it’s still possible with minor adjustments but their communication needs work. They served fish liver as an apology and it was delicious. The rest of the tasting experience came with it’s up and downs.Food: Fish is fresh and majority of dishes that came out were tasty. Biggest disappointments was their tempura, lobster nigiri (mine was half raw while others were cooked fully), and tamago sponge cake. Their tempura batter is not what I would expect from a premium experience and the portion of that dish is too small. Tamago sponge cake was overhyped as it was small and felt like it was sitting out for a while. Dessert was pumpkin parm which didn’t fit my taste either, as taste and texture were a bit overwhelming. 4/5Service: Great service from both kitchen staff and server. Constantly refilled tea and swapped tea leaves as well, much appreciated. The server had an upbeat personality, with jokes sprinkled throughout the evening. Kitchen staff was quick to address the issues in the beginning and it shows they aim to please. 5/5Atmosphere: I expected dimmed lights as shown at the bar pictures but it was a fairly lit establishment. Table arrangements should be better spaced apart as chairs (and guests) from an adjacent table continuously brushed against me. Seating near the door should have some form of cold prevention, as the guest sitting closest to the door felt cold drafts throughout the evening. 3/5Overall at its price point for the premium tasting menu, once is more than enough. If I were to come back then I would aim for the essential tasting menu or simply a la carte. They are still fairly new and it shows, but through time I’m sure they’ll work out the details. 4/5 with the saving grace of great service. Also I’m not sure what their fried chicken reviews are about but it must skew their ratings a bit.
