Wow, didn’t think I’d like this place and got dragged into it with the family.
But wow. One taste and you’re hooked.
Definitely must visit.

I am a matcha fan, and I’m very picky with what I like. Not only was the dessert & cakes I took home great, but the staff members were friendly and made excellent recommendations. I believe the staff working was Luke and Narae. Polite, professional and fast.

Dear Tsujiri Team,
I would like to share regarding a recent experience of mine with my cake order.
I placed an order for a birthday cake a week in advance — initially requesting the O-Matcha shortcake. A few days after placing the order, I visited the Richmond location in person to change it to the Houjicha cake, confirming it would be ready for pickup on Sunday at 3:00 PM. During that visit, I even asked the staff if I would receive a confirmation email regarding the change, and I was told it wasn’t necessary — that it was fine and the change had been noted.
However, when I arrived at the Richmond Location at 4:30 PM — giving more than enough time for the cake to be prepared — I was told the order in your system was still for the original O-Matcha cake. To make matters worse, I witnessed the staff beginning to prepare the Houjicha cake only after I had arrived. I was then made to wait an additional 20 minutes for it to be finished.
Frankly, this experience was incredibly disappointing. The entire point of ordering a cake in advance — and even taking the time to come in and update the order — is to ensure everything is ready and stress-free on the day of the celebration. Your mishandling of the order caused significant delay and made me late for the birthday dinner, taking away from what should have been a joyful and well-planned celebration.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and look into improving your order tracking and communication processes. People place orders in advance for a reason — to avoid exactly this kind of inconvenience and ensure a smooth, stress-free experience on an important day.

Got the O-matcha latte and Azuki matcha latte. Both were extremely watery, it almost tasted like water. They use Earth’s own for their oat milk so the milk wasn’t creamy at all and they don’t know how to make the drinks properly. When we were served our drinks all the ice was almost melted (were very small) and the cup was 3/4 full.
Don’t risk ordering the drinks and just get the parfaits or baked desserts as at least those were pretty good.

Went for their summer high tea. Beautiful presentation, see pictures, however:
Do not recommend for people that are easy to get queasy. There is too much fresh cream, whipped cream, whatever cream, and texture is all around the same (like pudding consistency - softer than Japanese egg pudding consistency) especially for the sweets. The mochi balls consistency is harder and the only bigger difference between the sweets, and of course the fruits have some crunch. The savoury ones were good. If the parfait did not have fruits in them to cut the fat, we would have been KO-ed. Around 65% of eating, tasting the spread, we were already thinking how are we going to get through this without queasy-ed out.
I thought the yuzu tea is a saviour to cut the queasiness and quite nice, but might not be everyone's cup of tea.
They could have made this summer high tea better if - they swap some sweets with savoury dishes or less sweet sweets, cut some cream off, have more different textures in ingredients layering, maybe like biscuits, or harder agar agar, ladies fingers, and maybe some crunchiness to one of them, then it should be a lot better.
Lastly, the room was beautiful, seats, table and setting were Japanese-like, however the music was way too loud and too fast (accelerated remix studio Ghibli music); to be able to truly enjoy and relax. Recommend the shop to lower the volume a lot and just use regular speed studio Ghibli music then no other tables will try to talk louder to hear each other over other tables.

the iced matcha latte was delicious, and the onigiri was overpriced but so worth it. tsujiri richmond is located in a plain outdoor shopping mall but attempts to bring japan to you! their beautiful private dining area can be rented out, but the rest of the store is a little cramped. the washrooms were clean, though.

I’ve tried a lot of matcha cafes, but this one is by far the best!
The matcha here is incredibly rich and flavorful — you can really taste the quality. I especially loved the matcha float and the matcha soft serve. Both were perfectly balanced and not too sweet, which I really appreciated.
The staff were so kind and welcoming, and they answered all my questions about the menu with such patience and care. It made the whole experience even better and more enjoyable.
I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for any matcha lover!

The atmosphere here is absolutely lovely!
I was excited to see so many of my favorite desserts on the menu — everything looked delicious.
The café is spacious with plenty of room between tables, which makes conversations feel relaxed and comfortable.
The kind and welcoming staff, especially the lovely hall staff, made the experience even more enjoyable.
The delicious desserts made the experience even more memorable.
Wishing the owner all the best and continued success! 💕

We made a reservation at Tsujiri Richmond on Tuesday and were told over the phone that the afternoon tea was $70 per set, with a $20 deposit required. We paid the deposit accordingly. However, when we arrived on Saturday, we were charged $90 per set—a price we later saw was listed on their Instagram, but not mentioned during booking or anywhere on their official website.
We would have been completely fine with paying $90 if that had been communicated upfront. The issue is that we were given incorrect information by staff during the reservation call, and when we brought this up at the store, no one took responsibility. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, we were told “no one said that” and made to feel like we simply misunderstood—when we clearly didn’t.
To make matters worse, the $20 deposit was not automatically deducted from our bill, and only after we asked was it refunded. We also noticed the table next to us had to ask the same question after paying, which suggests this is a recurring issue.
What disappointed us most was how the situation was handled. The manager did not offer any real explanation or apology—just brushed us off without taking accountability. We came in expecting a pleasant experience, but instead left feeling dismissed and disrespected.
It’s not about the price. It’s about honesty, clear communication, and how a business responds when something goes wrong. Sadly, that part was missing here.

I went to this restaurant today with some friends for their afternoon tea set, and overall the experience was disappointing. My friend called a few days in advance to make a reservation, and the staff told her the tea set was $70 and required a deposit of around $20.
The food looked great and was very photo-worthy, but the taste was honestly not good. Most of the items were bland or just didn’t taste right. I couldn’t even finish half of it. It really felt like something made just for Instagram, not for actually enjoying.
When we checked out, a couple of things made us feel uncomfortable. First, they didn’t mention anything about the deposit. We only noticed because another table brought it up. When we asked, they did fix it and gave it back to us, but there was no real apology or explanation. It just felt off.
Second, they charged us $90 per set instead of the $70 we were told on the phone. Maybe it was a miscommunication, but we were never told the price had changed. We would’ve been fine paying $90 if we had known in advance, but it was frustrating to be misled. When we asked about it, the manager came out with a rude attitude and said something like they wouldn’t bother scamming us for $20. That totally missed the point. It’s not about the money, it’s about the way they handled it and the overall lack of clear communication.
The only thing I liked was how the food looked and the decoration of the place, but everything else was disappointing. I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend it to others.
