Had dinner at Xiangchuan Mansion in Richmond and was really impressed with the food. Every dish we ordered was flavorful, well-balanced, and had that perfect level of spiciness that brings out the aroma without overwhelming the palate. The flavors work beautifully with rice — rich, layered, and truly satisfying.
The presentation of the dishes was also great; everything came out looking appetizing and neatly plated. The dining environment is clean, modern, and comfortable — a good place to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends or family.
Service-wise, the staff were polite and efficient. Nothing particularly outstanding, but everything ran smoothly, and the food came out in good timing. The real highlight here is definitely the food — authentic, delicious, and consistent across the board. I’d happily come back again for another meal.

My favorite spicy food restaurant in town! Business is super good, reservation is needed if you don’t want to stay in line for hours. Highly recommend their chicken soup, lamp pot, and bamboo shoots fried bacon. 😋

Listen, my mom is from Hunan and I grew up eating her amazing cooking. I lived in in Toronto aka Chinese food central for 20 years. I also go back to China regularly. When I say this is one of THE top restaurants serving Hunan dishes in Canada, heck even in China I ain't kidding. The only way you can get more authentic is to actually go to Hunan yourself, or eat my mom's cooking. And not only is the food exceptional, the restaurant is also very neat and orderly, and the servers were great. So this is absolutely a gem and everyone should know about it. And I have no pictures because I was too busy enjoying myself I forgot about everything else in life.

The affordability of this establishment is a standout feature, providing budget-friendly options with generous portions. The flavors, while satisfactory, offer a versatile range to suit different preferences, making it accessible even for those, such as myself, who aren't keen on spiciness. A distinctive touch is the inclusion of Hunan specialty – stinky tofu – adding a unique flair to the menu. The interior decor is noteworthy for its cleanliness, creating a pleasant and inviting ambiance that contributes positively to the overall dining experience.
Very authentic Szechuan cuisine! The waiters are also very nice!

Food is delicious and good present action. Worth to eat again and again. We only have two people, not able to order many dishes, everything we tried is good.
The service was quick and very good, felt like very authentic cuisine. I had a preserved pork and bamboo dish that the server recommended. Was delicious!! Really cool vibe inside also!

Food is excellent! Very authentic spicy bold Szechuan flavors. Wished that used a higher quality rice but that’s not a deal breaker. Food was served quickly but the server was not attentive even though it was a quiet afternoon.

Had a quick dinner at Xiang China Mansion. The food was very average and nothing particularly special. The spicy chicken was quite different from what we’ve had at other Chinese restaurants — it was deeply fried and not what we expected. I’d rate it around 3 to 4 stars. Would not recommend if you’re looking for authentic Chinese food.

The chef just would not listen to customers. We asked for 微辣 mild spicy for dry frog and du. But they are shockingly spicy with lots of and lots of marinated and fresh green and red chill. They are so spicy that just one bit my parents and daughter put down their chopsticks. Even the chairman Mao stew pork is sweet and spicy. Our family could tolerate spicy food very well but this “ mild spicy “ is 1000% super spicy. All our meal was to drink ice water and eat rice. My parents and child were still hungry at the end of the meal.
Why can’t the chef read our instruction and give actual mild spicy? We told the servers twice about the food yet no one offered to change a new one for us.

4/5 stars for Xiang Chuan Mansion. I ordered three mildly spicy dishes, and they are tasty. The restaurant looks clean and organized, and it has good lighting. There is a good gap between tables, so you won’t be distracted by people sitting next to you. My lips are dry after the meal, maybe the dishes have a lot of MSG??
