Honestly, I don’t get how this place has such a high rating. The food was terrible—probably the worst BBQ I’ve ever had. Two of us spent over $100 and barely got anything. The biggest issue is the taste—it was just bad, and I left feeling so disappointed. If your stir-fried dishes are the good part, then focus on that, but don’t make BBQ your main thing. And if the BBQ is supposed to be good, please make that clear in the reviews. Aside from the kidney, which was decent, everything else was pretty awful.

Skewers were ok. Korean dish we ordered was on the smaller size, barely any meat in it. Overall food quality was not bad, but price for it was on the higher end.

Exquisite food. Best skewer I’ve had in Richmond. Cooked on charcoal too.

Recommending lamb, lamb kidney, pork belly, chicken heart, chicken gizzard, Taiwanese sausage, and more. Beef is a little tough tho.

Seats are few and tight, you’d very likely have to wait on weekends. Waitresses are nice and friendly

Love this place after going two times, the skewers are delicious and the sweet and sour pork is so tender.

This place is legit. Real authentic Yanbian flavours. I ordered the skewers and they were smoky and delicious with a touch of cumin. The guobaoru is done authentic and is very crispy and tasty.

Guobaorou is called Guobaorou in Chinese and in Korea. It is also written as glutinous rice tangsuyuk Guobaorou which means thinly sliced pork and fried with starch. Guobaorou is a dish that is usually eaten with a mixture of sweet and sour sauce This dish was made while serving foreign envoys during the Qing Dynasty in the past. It is still widely loved in Korea and China.

Definitely make a reservation here. It’s crazy busy.

Went with my close friend for the very first time.

This place is not like the standard run in the mill Chinese skewer place where it is loud and flashy. It is a simple and quiet place and was perfect for friends who just want to hang out, catch up about life, and drink beer.

Food is flavourful and the portion is good.

Would definitely go again.

As a northeastern from China, this place is 11/10, heavy taste is something very important in our cuisine (which I understand it might not for some people’s taste bud) and this restaurant is very generous with the seasoning! Guobaorou is very well cooked, nice thing layer of batter and just perfect saucing. To be honest, it’s even a 10/10 skewer place if it opens in Northeast China.
