We ordered a seared scallop which was $19 on the menu, however when we got the bill it said $23 and the server said it was because they updated the price while we were eating. I found that to be pretty outrageous because I should be paying for what I saw on the menu. Updating prices should be done overnight when the store is not open.

Stepped into Yokai Tapas, a Japanese folklore-inspired fusion izakaya. Warm, friendly service paired with beautifully plated tapas-style small plates. Every dish was well-seasoned and thoughtfully executed, perfect for sharing.
• Miso Seasoned Black Cod - black cod in a savoury-sweet miso glaze
• Wagyu Beef Steak - wagyu beef steak, seared and served in slices
• Balsamic Kakuni Rice - slow-cooked pork belly braised for five hours in a rich balsamic reduction, served with rice
• Seared Scallops - seared jumbo scallops served on edamame cream
the seared scallops are genuinely one of the most delicious things ive ever tasted. wouldve licked the plate clean if not for the social stigma. 3 dishes was about $60 tip included, more than fair.

The food is very tasty and the waiter was attentive and took care in our orders but what I assume was the kitchen was wildly inconsistent. We were a moderate sized party of 7 and our initial orders took anywhere between 10 minutes to 60 minutes to arrive. Half the group was done eating their entire dinner before 2 members of our group had anything to eat. The people that did have food were able to order more and receive the food before the 2 hungry friends.

I usually don’t write negative reviews, only when really disappointed.
I was really excited to try this spot and arrived when it was completely empty minutes after opening. I asked to sit at the bar, but was told no bar or table seating was available. Instead, I was placed at a small counter by the window. No ambiance, just staring out to the sidewalk and street in an empty restaurant. A few minutes later, another couple without a reservation was offered the bar. This inconsistency was frustrating, and I left without ordering.
I hope to try again another time, but this experience was disappointing.

Came here with a friend on Dec 27th around dinner time.
Servers are super friendly. QR Menu available.
My friend and I shared all six items off the menu together and it was safe to say that the food was DELICIOUS but it left us desiring more for our stomachs because for $60 after tax each, we were not full. Basically if you math it out to $10 per item (6 items) split between 2 friends then sure, it's a fair price for very good quality food. But we still left the restaurant pretty hungry..
What we ordered:
● Seared scallops $19
● Uni creamy udon $21
● Teppanyaki Foie Gras $36
● Tako wasabi $11
● 2x uni nigiri $9.5
● Chicken liver yakitori $8
Overall I definitely want to give Yokai Tapas full-stars for everything, but it's still gotta be a 4.5/5 for me because I'm unable to get past the small amount of food for 6 tapas for the set prices that doesn't measure up to the full stomache I wanted to walk away with. Were my taste buds tantalized? Yes. If this was a date, would my stomach and wallet be okay with the sizeable bill? No.

A cozy spot that combines tapas-style sharing plates with Japanese flavours. The menu is perfect for ordering a few dishes to try together, and everything we had was well done. The atmosphere feels intimate and relaxed, making it a nice choice for a date. A bit pricey, but everything was good. Service was excellent.
